+1 for the pultec module.

I use the IK multimedia and have also used the modern (antress) pugin as well.

Love it on bass and drums.

This one is also free and very good!

Ooo thanks, I'll check it out! Do you find much difference between that and the Modern one?

Hi Matt,

I think it better than the modern one, I also use his console emulation plugin called Satson and really like it too.

Soneq is very close to the IK multimedia one and the the drive and woow can be a lot of fun!!

I have also tried the waves ones and Nomad factory one as well as a few other Pultec type ones but have been very happy with IK and soneq.

I haven't tried it yet, but X2PE let's you add FX chains within ProChannel, so
you can add external plugins like other Pultec EQ's.

Even though I have the UA version, a very good extended version comes from  PSP Audioware called the NobleQex: http://pspaudioware.com/p...equalizers/psp_nobleq/

It's full-tilt analog.

Here's a review of it from Sound On Sound:
http://www.soundonsound.c...rticles/psp-nobleq.htm

'Worth having in the tool box.

Cheers,
MG

That is what I Have done with mine, I have done one for low and one for highs due to the lack of knobs.

Thanks for the PSP heads up!

Check VSTPlanet.com. There is a freebie called Pushtec that is a lot better than the Antress. I have used it on many occassions and had very good results. Only bad thing is it's 32 bit. Still sounds great though.

Ronan Chris Murphy has a very clear 'how to use the Pultec' video. http://ronansrecordingshow.com/2011/06/how-to-use-a-pultec-style-eq-plug-in-or-hardware/

Hey folks, this was posted earlier in the Software forum, but if you're interested in a Pultec plugin that's both CHEAP and GOOD, you should check out the OverTone PTC-2A.  I picked this up after demoing against several other highly touted EQs and it stood out to my ears -- it's very clean, punchy, and has none of the digital hash that afflicts so many plugins.  And get this:  this month, it'll set you back the princely sum of 15 British pounds (about $25 US).  A no-brainer!

OverTone's plugins were apparently developed by a former SSL engineer.  The sonic quality bears that out -- this Pultec emu beats all others I've tried with its smooth, natural sound.  It comes in VST and AU formats for PC and Mac.  64-bit available, too.

Here's their link:

+10000000000 on Over Tone DSP! I got the PTC-2A after having downloaded countless demos from other brands and this one blows away the competition (in my humble opinion of course!).  And like Eddie points out, at fifteen bucks, this is a STEAL!

Note: Same here, not affiliated with Over Tone, just an enthusiastic fan!
