I used to be able to ctrl-shift drag a track layer to another track. I can't do that with take lanes. That's a huge bummer!

I've just Ctrl+Shift dragged an audio clip from one track take lane to another track's take lane. So what is the difference? I do not understand what you are saying?

I think he means he wants to drag a clip from a track lane into a brand new track altogether. Not from one lane of the same track to another lane of the same track.

I haven't tried this but I don't see why it shouldn't work...

Hi Mike...

I'm extremely disappointed and unhappy with Lanes, but I can easily drag using this method... I must admit that it's a bit buggy and doesn't always stay constrained, but it works. Are you grabbing the top portion of the clip?

You might want to file a Feature Request...

Here's a link to a post that I just made with a message you can copy/paste for the request as well as the link to the Feature Request page...

http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2697757

the more of us that post actual requests using their' system, the more likely it will get attention fast!

Thanks...
Keni

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Maybe I'm not doing this correctly. I can't copy and paste a clip from a take lane into another take lane or track. Has anyone been able to do this? If so, please walk me through the steps.

Thanks!
Mike

Have you tried just dragging the clip?.. smart tool on, highlight clip, get two headed arrow left click and drag..

i can:
add a take lane and move a take from lane X to new lane Z,
reorder clips within take lanes at will ..lane A>C, B>D, D>A etc
move clips left right in time in lane
add a track and move a clip from take lane on track A to Track B

hope this helps...

before a track is expanded I can drop lots of clips on the track.

after track has been expanded, and minimized, no joy.

I submitted this bug, and feature request: I should NOT have to create a take lane to drop a clip on a track. This should be automatic, whether the track is minimized or expanded, a NEW lane should be created for the new clip. The clip should NOT be placed into lane one, as sometimes happens.

Take lanes are fast approaching track functionality. So what's the point?

Layers do what was intended: lots of clips in one track using the same FX and routing.

Current state of bugginess puts us back to pre-layers days.
