I jumped straight into X2 when it was first released, and there's no way on earth I'm ever going back to X1.

You took the words right out of my mouth Jonesey!

X-2 is awesome. The audio snap. The lanes. The new zoom. The midi is easier to edit. After a few tweaks on my new computer it's pretty stable, but, I Ctrl+S save constantly in case of crashes. That's a habit I got from X-1 while my last band tracked song after song and every once in a while CRASH......AAAAHHH. I hate asking a singer to do another take.

To the OP: Assuming your hardware can support X2 and you can afford the cost of the upgrade I can't see any reason not to upgrade. You don't need to uninstall any previous versions so if your learning curve would impact your productivity you can maintain what you are currently using.

As for the 'history of unstable releases' you may want to consider that the majority of people who use Sonar do not comment on how well it is working. In the IT support biz we have a saying: "How come you never call me when it works?"

FWIW: I did the upgrade the day it was available and I have found it to be stable and the enhancements are really fantastic. I'd say go for it.

Although the release is generally stable there are issues. Notable with the implementation of take lanes in midi. The mute lane function is unreliable when recording multiple takes and deleting take lanes. Also there are reports of issues with audio clip fades. I have not tested the last one myself. Many of the new features are great but IMHO I would suggest you wait till at lease the first patch to see if issues like this are addressed.
