  • Don't Install UAD 6.3.1 Software with Sonar X1 possibly X2.

So I clicked update in the UAD utility software and it said that a new verison 6.3.1 was available. I had been running 6.3.0. After installing the latest version none of the UAD plugins worked in Sonar X1. I went to the UAD site and sure enough, it's a known issue and they are recommending that Sonar users stay on 6.3.0. It says they are working on the problem.

Fair warning.

I was not planning on updating UAD until they are 64bit.

The stuff I do not own I'm in no hurry to get and all is working for me (I may even be below 6.3).

Thanks for posting this though. You made it a no brainer.

I'm on 6.3.1 in X1 and it's working fine for me. I should also add that I'm on XP and that I haven't updated my UAD plugins in about 1000 years.  I just recently replaced my old UAD1 cards with a Quad so I had to update the software. The only thing I don't like about it is the warning it now gives if there are non-UAD plugins along side a UAD plugin of any kind. Annoying.

wmb, are you running x64 or x32? I am in x64 and the Sonar compatability check box is not available in 6.3.1 and the plugins won't operate although they do show up on the screen, the gain reduction needles odn't move on the fairchild.

So it may be either X1 x64 or the fact that I am running Win7x64 that is the compatability issue.

Yup...it's 64 bit or nothing for me as well.  Thanks for the heads up.

I'm only 32 bit on my machine running X1 and the UAD cards. I'm really glad 6.3.1 works in XP 32 bit because I only just realized that by upgrading to a UAD2 I have lost all the plugins that were apparently related to the Nigel amp sim. I used the TremModEcho plugin rather frequently for tempo based modulation. That sucks. If the whole freaking thing wasn't working I'd be SOL on some work I'm on. I have been putting off and putting off the install of the UAD2 since June because I had big projects on the table and didn't want to risk downtime. Luckily it seems to be working well enough.
