...I haven't updated my UAD plugins in about 1000 years.  I just recently ... had to update the software.
Updating the software updates the plugins too.

I only just realized that by upgrading to a UAD2 I have lost all the plugins that were apparently related to the Nigel amp sim. I used the TremModEcho plugin rather frequently for tempo based modulation. That sucks.
I use the Nigel stuff too.  That's one reason why I didn't go for the upgrade exchange offer.  The other reason was that I could easily buy a UAD-2 card cheaper than the upgrade price anyway, and still hang on to my UAD-1e card.

I haven't bought a plugin in a long time so I didn't need to update. I had other reasons to move on including wanting to ditch my magma chassis among other things. I had three PCI cards and moving forward was worth more to me than hanging on to a bunch of aging hardware. In any case I've got what I've got now.Kev999

I'm with Kev999 and have retained a UAD-1 to run alongside a UAD-2 (just for Nigel which really is usefull).  But its really crappy how UA sorta screwed their customer base that retained a UAD-1 in terms of software updates in that you cant install past 6.1 without losing UAD-1 functionality.

I think thats really shoddy customer service.

It was more value to me to move forward than to hang on to the past. I never really expected as much life as I got from the cards. My first one was a Mackie version of the UAD1 before they started doing their own thing.

About them screwing their customers... the power supply for my Brent Averill lunchbox just went toes up after 6 or 7 years and it's gonna cost me $250 to replace it. The old one is pretty much useless.  I got more life from my first UAD card than from that power supply and I could trade it in when I was finished with it. Just another perspective. They are tools and tools eventually become outdated or worn out. I see no point in them holding on to the UAD1 line but I don't know why they dropped the Nigel and associated plugins. I didn't use the ampsim much but I did use the mod and DDL stuff from time to time.

I am in x64 and the Sonar compatability check box is not available in 6.3.1

I think UA just finally ditched the Sonar Compatibility option, as it was a hold over from the UAD-1 days. UAD-2 users never needed to use that option as it only related to specific UAD-1 CPU munching issues. I have been using v6.3.1 since the day it was released without any issues, but then I am on WinXP (SP3) and only use the UAD 32bit versions. Once UA finally releases the 64bit compatible UAD plug-ins is the day I make the move to a 64bit OS.
On the face of it, this appears to be a bitbridge related issue. With UA being on the verge of releasing the 64bit plug-ins, UA may recommend staying on v6.3 or rolling back to it, if you have already updated. IOW, I don't think they are going to waste resources trying to fix a v6.3.1 that will soon be out dated anyway.

Cheers,
