Beep, this is the single best compressor that CW offers.  I've used it on everything, and it simply does the job.  It'll make anything sound louder, fatter, yet clean.  To answer your question, it's great on acoustic guitar.  It also works well for vocals, drums, bass, etc.  The two knob operation makes it easier than most to run.

How well does it work on acoustic guitar tracks compared to the modules included with Expanded, the Suite and/or X2?

Thanks, Lynn (and everybody). I'm currently leaning towards getting it. Kind of wish Cake would put some demos together for this type of thing though. Without hearing stuff like this it makes it very difficult to make a decision. Cheers.

Here's a video of it being used on a vocal

And he's a long video of it being used on drums versus other compressors

Yep - Lynn's right - it's the shizzle Beep - you won't regret buying it

I can't really hear a difference on the vocal vid on my crappy computer speakers but it's definitely noticeable on the drum vid. How much better would you guys say it is than the PC compressor included with Producer (I always forget the durned name)? I find that one helps but doesn't really "WOW" me. If this one smokes it then it'd be worthwhile to me.

Like I said... trying not to spend any money but if it's the type of thing that'll polish up my mixes more professionally I can consider it an investment. Kind of wanted to make my next purchase TH2 but I don't think it's going on sale any time soon. Thanks, guys.

I think for any audio demo you have to listen through a decent pair of speakers or headphones really. I can definitely hear the difference in the vocals - it removes a lot of the boominess and muddiness on the syllables he points out. Which is exactly what it's supposed to do. I suppose you'll never get the full sonic experience from a YouTube video though.

I wouldn't say better I would say very different, Beep. Nor should it be used on everything but if you need what it offers there is no replacement. You wont go wrong in getting it.

OK I am in after reading the opinion of all my fellow Sonar users. I am off to get mine now

@sharke... Yeah, I'll check it out through my headphones in a bit. Just being lazy because I'm still waking up. Thanks again.

@John... hmm. Okay, how about this. Would you say it's "warmer" than the included PC comp? Crisper? I want something nice for my acoustic album. There's gonna be mandos, banjos, accordions, brushed drums, my foghorn voice and of course my spastic acoustic guitar work. I'm just not sure the current comp is gonna cut it. Bah... I should probably just snag it anyway.

I just had an idea. Cake should create a semi locked project for people to demo stuff like this. Say allow the user to record two or three tracks into it then they can play around with the plug on whatever instruments they want. No export function but you can use your existing plugs to see how they behave with the plug being demoed. Then it expires after a certain period of time. Just a thought.

Cheers.
