I'm about to set up a new DAW and wonder how to backup / transfer ACT mappings.
 
There is an import option in the Control Surface preferences section (don't know if that even is the right option to bring in custom settings) but there is no option I could find to export ACT settings ...
 
Or is it a simple as transferring one particular file from the old machine to the new one ... if so, which one?

ACT mappings are saved automatically and should be valid for all projects ... so there must be some file that contains these settings ...

From a little research I believe it is in

C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\ACT Data\genericpluginparams.xml
 
There is also a
 
C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\ACT Data\SONARX1genericpluginparams.xml
 
and
 
C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\ACT Data\SONARX2genericpluginparams.xml
