So I had excessive CPU usage by WMI Provider Host.   I turned off WMI provider host service to see what software came back giving errors.  The only errors were from Waves Central.  Any ideas?

These things are part of my ongoing issues with Waves.

Why can't the plugin JUST be a plugin?  Why does it need
a "Shell"?  Why does it need a WMI host?  Why all the
excess baggage for plugins?

YMMV

Gee, that was fun. Now I can understand some of the posts I see better.

Honest answer, I'll bet Waves isn't really using WMI data. They likely purchased a framework to build Waves Central in that also contains WMI interfaces.
