I wonder whether stuff like Guitar Rig worked in earlier versions? I did use the original Revalver from V2 in later versions. I think that gave up when I went 64-bit at V7. Pity - I really liked that.

gr & revalver weren't locked in, they were just included... i used revalver until it went to peavy & they started chaging a stupid amount for the upgrade, grrrr

That a really really good point. VST vs Pro channel plugs. VST generally always backwards compatible, but are Pro Channel? When I install X3 or X4 or even X5 will I have to spend money upgrading some Pro channel plugins? Chances are most VST's will still probably work until we go 128 bit ;).
