While it seems odd that it would be specific to Studio, since Studio and Producer have the same audio engine and user interface in general, it's certainly not impossible.  In particular, how Pro Channel enters the picture in Producer might well mean some differences in plug-in chain logic, and perhaps even some fixes that were made in the context of behavior with Pro Channel that had side effects if Pro Channel wasn't in the picture.  However, I wouldn't be so quick to jump to the conclusion that this is happening only in Studio, unless you've tried X2 Producer on your systems and verified that it does not have the same problem on the same system/configuration/setup.

As it stands right now, if this thread is the totality of the sample size for testing, we only have two systems having the problem on Studio and one not having the problem on Producer, and there are vast differences in my system that is not having the problem and your desktop rig, and I'd guess also your laptop rig, though you don't mention much about that configuration, only that it also has a Firewire audio interface like your desktop rig.  Besides the Firewire versus PCI interface differences (not to mention different brands and drivers), and, of course, the Studio/Producer differences, there are graphics card differences (mine is pretty darn basic compared to what many people have these days, so likely does a lot less at the hardware level), CPU differences, system setup differences (probably), SONAR configuration tuning differences (perhaps), etc.

It would be helpful if some others could also test this on both Studio and Producer (odds are no one will be able to do both, at least outside of Cakewalk itself, but even having multiple attempts from different people could show whether there is indeed a consistent issue on one side of the fence and not on the other).  If it is consistent on Studio, and it is consistently not an issue on Producer, then that confirms the Studio-only theory.  But, if others find it on Producer, or others do not find it on studio, it would point to something system-specific.  That still doesn't mean there's anything wrong with your systems, but it would narrow the focus somewhat to trying to figure out what is different, but consistent between your two systems, that might be coming into play.

Anyone using Studio 64 bit experiencing this issue?

What other software are you running that is common across both machines? Antivirus? Third party firewall?
Tried creating a new project and copying/pasting (or importing) the tracks in from old project to new project?
Installed the new quickfix patch? (see top of this board).

I disable antivirus software when doing audio. No third party firewall, my laptop isnt even online when doing audio. The laptop is a clean install not more than a few weeks old. Everything updated. X1 studio 64 worked fine on the laptop (and my desktop). I tried creating a new project and copying tracks in, and it still does it. It happens in new projects, not just old projects.
The quickfix is not for Studio, by cakewalks own admission, theres no reason to install it.

Im pretty confident that the problem is in the software, not my hardware. As shown in the above movie, the freezing doesnt occur when manipulating busses, only audio or midi tracks. X1 never did this. Same hardware. The movie was of my desktop, but my laptop behaves identically.

One additional bit ive discovered. If a plugin is minimized (into a small box), the freezing occurs, how ever, if I close the instantiated plugins window (the "X" in the upper right hand corner of the plugin), the freezing does not occur, even if the plugin still exists in the fx bin. This  only occurs if the plugins are loaded into an audio track. I can actually take a sonitus reverb from an audio track that is causing freezing, and move it into a bus, and the freezing goes away.

So ultimately having any plugin loaded into an audio track and having the plugin itself opened completely or minimized to the bottom of the screen causes freezing to occur when ANY midi/audio track is solo'ed or muted. If I close the plugin so that it only exists in the fx bin, it doesnt cause problems.

Thanks for your help/feedback!

I have also posted about sluggish screens in track view.. curiously also with a project started in x1..i am currently porting all project info to a new x2 project in the hope that will fix it..

I replicated this on a third machine, a mac that has bootcamp installed.
