Hi Guys,

Hopefully someone here can help me!

I'm using X1 - a complete novice really.. but know the basics.

The problem I seem to be having is that I am not receiving sound from certain VST plugins.. I have session drummer 3 loaded up, and it works fine, no problems. But anything else, like say Philharmonik, It is silent. To clarify, Session drummer 3 is fine, but anything else is silent.

The curious thing is, and this may be where the clue lies, that if I close down the project and reload, If the first thing I do is open up Philharmonik, I am able to hear it just fine. Yet as soon as I initiate anything else (play anything) it goes silent once more.

Maybe something very simple I'm overlooking, but like I said, I'm by no means an expert!!

If anyone has any clues, please do share!

Thanks

Robb

Check some of the other included plugins, such as SI-Bass, True Pianos, Dimension Pro, etc.

What happens with those?

Hi Bob,

Thankyou kindly for your reply..

Ok, so after fiddling around with other plugins as you suggested, and a little more investigation, I have discovered that actually this is the same problem across the board.. including Session Drummer itself.

The project I am working on has been imported from an older version, something I have already been working on - so the drum map is already there.. and I can hear it when I play the timeline.  This is also the case for other plugins - I randomly plotted different notes on the piano roll and it plays fine.

It seems to be previewing the samples, this is where I am unable to hear anything!

This is the same for ALL plugins!

So once I have something plotted out on the piano roll, It plays perfectly.. problem is that is the only time I can actually hear anything!!

Very frustrating!!

Any ideas?

Robb

Look at the midi events on the imported tracks, and look for some events at the beginnings of the tracks, of type RPN or NRPN.

If you see those present, you will either have to remove those events from each track, OR:

1.  Go to Utilities>Cakewalk Plugin Manager
2.  Click on VST Instruments
3.  Select a Cakewalk synth by clicking on its name in the list
4.  Click on Plugin-Properties down at the bottom of the dialog box
5.  When the properties page for the synth opens up, click the check on for 'Do Not Intercept NRPNs', then OK

Repeat the above steps for each of the Cakewalk synths (Dim Pro, SD 3, Rapture, True Pianos, TTS-1, SI-Bass, SI-etc)

AFTER doing the above, you will have to remove each synth from your affected project, then reload them, being careful NOT to have it delete associated tracks when you remove them.  This will load in the re-configured synths to your project.

Reconnect the synths to the tracks and give it a try.

Hi Bob,

Thanks again for your suggestions!

I tried what you said, but it didn't seem to make a difference.. not straight away.

I fiddled with a few other things before I finally got it working..

I installed another midi driver (Loopbe1) and then assigned each instrument to a different midi output channel in the midi instruments menu..

One of these things or maybe a culmination of them all seemed to do the trick!

Thanks again for your help.
