Ok it seems X1a seems to screw up my system , I can no longer record at the moment, After inserting a kick and pressing play the second I stop the transport, The audio card screams with a loud noise , I disable the audio , re-enable it works no loud noise , press stop and its back , Now if I have an existing song open I'm able to press play and stop no problem , The problem happen when I add something.

Can confirm 100% 8.5.3 works perfectly , so im sure its not my soundcard. or some driver issue.

Ok Just got off the phone , No need to call if your having issue's when Installing X1 a Patch while using Asio drivers, This is a priority for them as I was told, The Fix is to either delete and reinstall X1 without the x1a patch or use WMD driver, in the mean time, With my tascam Fw 1884 WMD still did not work , was getting drop outs,  So at the moment Im done recording Im Closed , really dont wanna use 8.5.3 , Started a great track in X1 and wanna finish it there. So vacation time for comes a little early , I do hope a quick fix is released soon. I'm already feeling the withdrawal symptoms ..  :(

I've always been a WDM guy but the 64 bit ASIO drivers for the Frontier Dakota out perform the WDM drivers.  Night and day difference.

I had the bug appear when I opened X1a today.  I closed the program and reopened it as an Administrator and it worked again.   Don't know if Administrator mode meant anything.

I have the 1884 as well. it would lose the ASIO interface periodically with X1 and X1a.
I have also experienced the "loud noise" very sporadically as well with all versions of sonar.

I have no evidence that it made any difference.  It was just what I did when I reopened X1a.

You can uninstall X1a and reinstall X1 and continue to record.

We are in the middle of a song started with X1, so I didn't want to upgrade to X1a in case there was a problem, and lo and behold...

X1 is working just fine for me.

Interesting Dave, by outperform what do you mean? Lower latencies are possible? The WDM driver has always worked for me, but I couldn't do any  low latency work w/o drop-outs.

So, it sounds like the 64 bit ASIO drivers are the ticket under Win7 Pro x64? That's the environment I'll be working in when I finish my new DAW build.  I finally accumulated enough $, now I just have to do the research and order parts. Any words of wisdom for me? I want a 3930k 6-core but can only find one X79 MB with dual legacy PCI slots (ASrock Extreme4) so I'm a bit hesitant.
