I have several projects done in Sonar X1 that export/track freeze as expected.
Those same projects, same hardware, same settings in X2, freezing the track or exporting output sounds bad.

It sounds like a track playing on an overtaxed machine with ultra low latency (very garbled).

It only happens on Omnisphere tracks - all of my other soft synths seem to be working fine.
Has anyone else noticed this?

Thanks
John

Machine spec:
Intel 2600K
Asus MB

RME UFX interface via Firewire
Multi drives (one for OS, one for projects, one for Sample libs)

Remember, you can't use fast bounce with Omnisphere.

That is new to me on the fast bounce, but I am hearing the same thing with exported files as well.

Hi John
I'm not the expert here but I export Omnisphere with no issues. But I do not freeze the tracks and I do use fast bounce and it does the job fine every time. I set the following

Stereo-Presets-All
44100, 24bit, Power-3
Mix Enables all except audible and live input.

John - thanks for the info.
I'll keep testing.

Exporting works the same way - and Omnisphere likes you to turn fast bounce off. It's buried somewhere in the documentation ;-)

The reason for this is - Omnisphere is pulling it's sounds off disk, and if it can't do this quick enough - you'll hear problems in your export or bounce. did you ever notice that sometimes Omnisphere splutters on a note or two when you first run through your track? That's because it didn't load the sounds form disk quick enough. There is a setting for how much of each sound is cached - and normally, the next time you run through the track it's fine.

I'll bet that's what's happening to you.

Meno - if you're using fast bounce (the same applies to export) OK, then your Omnisphere is not having problems keeping up. Just remember that it may *not* work sometimes.

OK thanks John I will keep this in mind.

Great discussion - I just am puzzled on why it works fine in X1 but is having issues in X2 right now.  I hope to test later today or tomorrow.

Rememember the audio engine in x2 has been rewritten, I have noticed some issues along the way too regarding audio

no problems with Omnisphere here, but will do a more thorough check today. And I have never ever had a problem with fast bounce in the 12 months I have owned it. Fast bounce and Omnisphere work fine.
