Isn't there an easy way to put a master track in X2 to use like a volume fade-out automation?  I didn't see it and thought I used to use it in X1?  I enabled a write automation fade and manually faded it out then enabled the read automation, and that works, but how can i edit it?

You may be referring to a master buss. And yes you can do that.

You mean adding a volume envelope on the master bus?   If so, Shift+B to display the bus pane, then change the master bus' Edit Filter to Automation/Volume or use an Automation Lane.   I think that should do the trick, assuming your tracks are routed (directly or indirectly) to the master bus.

You can also right click in the bus pane and insert a bus and name it MASTER. Then route all tracks and buses to that Master Bus. This is the normal routing when mixing.
Then make all tracks automatically output to the master by making it the default.
Make a template, name it and save it.

Shift+B works

The Master bus is already showing from the template, but not the track.

any way to only view the Master?

Not sure what you mean by the track. If you can see the buss that is it, there is no clip in it as such. You can enable the waveform preview button and see a waveform drawn on playback but it's not a requirement for drawing automation.

As stevec said change the buss edit filter to "volume" or even easier select the master buss and press the = key.
