I do know about the IE add-on for FF, but that's a ridiculous kludge. Firefox should work just by itself for BASIC FORUM FUNCTIONS such as line breaks or quotes. Think about what you're saying here. This forum fails in the most very basic way. It's shocking, and I am reflecting that shock because I'm relatively new on the forums (even though I apparently joined in 2004). Stop making excuses for the forum and maybe it will improve. If Cakewalk treats their software like they treat their forum, no wonder their software is broken! One cannot dismiss the compounded effect this forum has when you're coming here to report software bugs. I mean, it's basic psychology. The message is clear, Cakewalk has terrible quality-control.

Here's what's busted in X2: Audio keeps dropping out and requires restart of software to fix

WOW, I must be the only one that this does not happen to

WOW here too,Iv'e only been using a computer since late 2009[never EVER before]and only got a laptop, that could run X1 since April 2011,and due to a combo of USER ERROR,and the quirks of the dell XPS L502X,I bought a "parts picked" desktop, which right from the "get go" has NEVER done ANYTHING weird, but even as an 18 month Digital Noob,Iv'e learned the importance of "setting ones tools up properly"[must'ave been my Motocross background],and since the "Quick Fix" EVERYTHING in X2 NOW works perfectly[as did X1c/d]

I may have only been using a Daw/Computer for 18 months, but Ive played in touring bands since 84,so I'm no "kid",but I believe "setup",not panicking, and following tried and true advice[Scott from ADK],and as a result,I believe any of these so called "buggy software" can be made to work, also I find 64 bit EVERYTHING,way more solid.

Couple of thoughts... have you tried turning off your virus checker? I think I saw it mentioned elsewhere here that a virus checker was causing all sorts of problems.

When you say hotkeys don't stick, is that all of them or just some?

I'm not sure what you mean about the step sequencer not advancing on enter. Presumably you are referring to the step record function of it which I wasn't even aware would work with a qwerty keyboard. It definitely works okay with a MIDI controller. The step sequencer can also be navigated with the arrow and enter keys okay here as well. A little more info on exactly what you are trying to do and the problem you are experiencing will help.

Not sure about the kludge but FF with IE tab is working here as you can see. This isn't the only site I need it for either but yeah the software could do with an update but it's hardly the end of the world or is it?

Well frankly you have plenty of machine to run Sonar, not sure what driver model you're running, or latency but you apparently know how to use this stuff since you've been arounf it so long...

All I can suggest is get a hold of a tech at Cakeland and see if they can help...

Beyond that switch software.

The only issue I've had with X2 has been qwerty related...and it was not a big deal since I am running control surfaces and use a mouse as well...

Well...there's the no number #1 hit thing but I haven't tried all the additional content yet so it might be premature...

I cant for the life of me understand why the forum gets blamed for the carriage problem. There are different explorers (IE,Firefox,Google Chrome etc). There is also an update for firefox (fix) that you can install.
This is like saying that all the DAW's (Pro Tools,Studio 1, Cubase,Sonar, etc) All have to work in the same way and be completely compatable with each other. And if we find some change in one of them we will blame the forum again.

I agree

There are one or 2 minor annoyances, but that's all they are.

@CowboyDan: I've been on the Internet since before there was an Internet. I've used every kind of forum you can reasonably be expected to use. I run an SMF forum (which is free). I've been on VBulletin forums. I've used them with various browsers from IE to Chrome, Firefox to well, you name it. All of them can do the most basic functions such as a carriage return (think about how basic a function this is) and being able to quote-respond. Again, this is objectively and demonstrably a FORUM ISSUE. Anything else is simply justifying a mistake. The answer is not to simply blame FF but for Cakewalk to fix the issue and test their forum better. Of course it's not just carriage-returns and an inability to quote, but BOTH. Obviously, this forum is broken. My post here will demonstrate that when I post it. As for the software, X2 did seem promising with all of its add-ons and again, I've been a fan of Cakewalk products for years. As for step-sequencing, I've always used the QWERTY keyboard to advance the step-sequencer. I never thought about using Midi but I don't even know how to do that. I like using the enter key because I can step-sequence really fast that way, especially with broken-up 16th notes. I may try turning off my Virus program. I usually try that when I have issues with Sonar but it doesn't explain the hotkeys losing their 'memory' of what I set them to, or the problems with the step-sequencer. The hotkeys I am trying to use are related to piano mode Move, Edit, Smart, etc. Without hotkeys, this process is pretty painful and I find the SMART mode to be too fiddly. I do a lot of piano-note editing. Thanks
