Regarding the forum software, I seem to recall reading that Cakewalk are NOT directly responsible for it's upkeep or maintenance. The whole thing is contracted out to a 3rd party supplier/provider, so these are the people you/we should be addressing in order to air these grievances.

Obviously Cake pay for its continuing use, so they must have some input into who they contract out to

Hhhmmmmmm, Xeon cpu's.    i know they should work but 30 years in IT tells me to only use them for servers, not specialist audio or graphical apps. X2 is running great on my 4gb / core duo e6850.   Only minor bugs, no showstoppers or even close.   Don't suppose you have a spare non Xeon machine to a fresh install on?

Hi Pdunford.  I have been running a SonicaX with a Quad core Zeon for about 4 years.  It has been very solid, and have no issues for whihc I have not been able to find a cause.  I run multiple XP and Win 7 64 partitions 1 each for general use and 1 each fo rDAW specific use.  (I haven't been near the XP partions for a while, and will turn them over to Win 8 soon)

Cheers

agreed and personally i dont come here to this forum to read/discuss give a hoot about the forum software.. it runs fine on IE and if you want to use another browser, someone somewhere here has got it to work.. after all, it is easier to search and ask than it is to create a ramblewhine. :)

Back on topic (which i thingk was x2 bugs?).. anyone seen the following?

1. Auditioning audio content ..samples, loops etc.. if i am too quick to switch from one to another to another for preview player it occasionally crashes

2. Engine stopped.. preferences>midi>devices; enabling or disabling a midi device has caused occasional crash..even if the device was not used in that project

I haven't personally come across either, but I have read a few posts from others than have seen previewing crashes in the Browser.   Hopefully everyone's sending them in to CW!

+1 on the thread getting hijacked into a running complaint that Firefox doesn't like the forum.

It seems like they (Cakewalk) are a bit backed with things, but I DID this afternoon receive an email from them on a submitted bug.  I had submitted it about 4 days ago, so that's not a bad response time.
Hopefully they will be able to address most bugs for folks - I happen to like X2 so far.

If somebody has had a crash or posted a whine-o-gram without submitting a ticket to Cakewalk, then they deserve every bit of suffering they are going through.

It seems to me that threads that have reduced levels of product bashing seem to get the most help by the community - wouldn't be surprised if tech support worked that way too.

Anyways - I hope folks remember that we are hopefully all here to help each other, and to try to get to the bottom of things that truly are bugs, so that they can get addressed as quickly as possible by the Cakewalk folks.

bugs that i can think of right now (very new to X1).

- mute via a key binding doesn't work right on a vsti that has 2 tracks or more (midi, audio). Haven't tried instrument tracks. If you use the mouse, yes, both the midi and audio go in and out of mute. A key binding should do the same.

- the browser keeps forgetting what the preview bus is. It's even worse now than it was in Sonar8.

This one is the only reason I'm finding X2 less stable (for me) than X1. I've reported this but I'm sure another one won't hurt.

Having lost quite a bit of work so far using X2, I'm going back to X1 until it's more stable. The last fatal crash came about when clicking to expand the ProChannel at the end of a long editing session. X1 is unstable in its own way but slightly less so. M

I'll try this out tonight - and will let you know if it happens to me or not.
