Logitech Performance MX, tracks on anything, white, black, shiny surfaces, even glass.

Wireless but uses standard 1.5 volt batteries so you can use rechargeables.

Nice amount of macro buttons you can bind to sonar functions.

Has double function wheel, notches like a normal mouse or press a button to unlock the wheel, and you just spin the wheel and it keeps going forever, perfect for scrolling long pages, can't be without that now.

No negative acceleration so you can flick it as fast as you want even if you use a low sensitivity for precision, different DPI settings changeable on the fly.

+a lot for the Logitech M570 Startekh - never looked back since buying my trackball.
Apparently, all the best Producers use a trackball and they all think that a regular mouse is for losers - here's some quotes I found

'Trackballs are fabulous, I couldn't have made Sgt Peppers without one" - George Martin
"Regular mouse? Pfft" - Mutt Lange
"Trackball? It's all about RAM" - Alan Parsons

One more vote for the M570.  The batteries last FOREVER and it can stay conveniently parked on the keyboard pull out.

I have Logitech M510 wireless mouses at work and at home. I love not having to worry about another wire getting tangled in my cramped little home studio. Battery life is incredible. I turn the mouse off at the end of each day and it's been over 1.5 years on the original batteries.

Ah, but there's still the other camp:

"Mice - it's all in the wrist and the shake of the hips" - Sam Phillips
"Trackball?  pfft.  You can't produce Rock n Roll with a trackball!" - Eddie Kramer
"Give me a mouse and I'll make you a platinum record" - Phil Spector

lol... I just went on a tirade about how much I hate mice in the Coffee House.

This is WELL worth the money IMO... http://www.amazon.ca/Kens...rackball/dp/B00009KH63

I can't stop myself from pointing out that the plural of mouse is not mice. Sorry.

Grum.
