Even with crashing, sonar has only sent one crash report so are they held anywhere where I can send them? Pretty close to giving up on this build but thought I'd ask

Check C:\Users\your.name\AppData\Local\Cakewalk\Sonar X2 - there should be an \exceptions or \minidump folder there.

Odd, it's not there. There is an NI one but not a cakewalk.

There's no \Cakewalk folder?   Hmmm...   Try the AppData\Roaming folder instead.   I know there's a CW folder in there somewhere...

Ah, is that the .dmp?

If so.........ARRRRRRRRRRRRG. One file (that's the only time cake reported ) and It's crashed a few other times.

You're welcome, Chris.   I don't think minidumps are generated with every type of crash, so it could depend on the nature of what happened.

Another thing you can sometimes do if SONAR (or most apps) is temporarily hung is to use Task Manager to force a dump file.  These tend to be larger than auto-generated minidumps, but it could be worth a try.

If it crashes too many times, a little pop-up window appears and Windows 7 (if you are running it) will step in and forcefully make adjustments to your system that it thinks will help solve the issue. You can't stop Windows 7 from making the changes, and you can't undo them. Well, it says you can undo the changes, but it directs you to a developer web site with about 4,000 pages of info on how to do it ... so, when that happens, I always format, or do a system restore.
