Hey All,
Just completed my first project using SONAR Pro (not SPlat) 2017.10/WIN7/64bit.
Previously used ProTools (since late 2000s).
Plenty of questions but will start with a few...

1. Can you make the History list a "sticky" (permanent display)?

2. Any way to set Audio, Midi, Instrument Tracks, and Buses (each type) to default to different colors upon creation?

I tried Preferences/Customization/Colors/Track defaults - but that only allows me to set a default color for all tracks.

I tried Preferences/Customization/Colors/Category/Audio Tracks - highlighted all the Track Foreground color entries and changed them all to the same color. Apply/Close exit Sonar, restart Sonar - but when I create new Audio Track it appears as the default dark grey color.

(I know I can change each new track's color upon creation but just wondering if there's a way to set a default).

3. Any way to rearrange the order of tracks by dragging (left or right) from within the *Console view*? (I know how to do it from the Tracks view).

4. How do I deactivate/clear a selection on the Tracks window timeline? Right now I'm either clicking in a blank (no clips) section of the Clip view pane, or else clicking a combination of the the Selection Module's "Set From = Now" and "Set Thru = Now" buttons.

5. I'm OK with the "F" key and "Shift+F" to resize the tracks and clip view. But what if I have all the tracks minimized and want to open one or more of them back up to a specific larger size (e.g. the height of the track before it was minimized)? Is there a keyboard shortcut for this? Right now I have to drag the track's top or bottom edges to resize each track's height.

Any help on these matters would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Danny V.

#1  Not sure , do you mean in the undo list?
#2
You can make track templates to have everything the way you like it.
Set up a track and then save it as a track template.
Right click the track inspector part of the track and the dialog will pop up.
You can save all types of tracks including a VST instruments track with your favourite presets and effects all ready to go. Huge time saver.
I make templates for say my Vocal track will have the correct input of my interface selected, output to master, effect send, compressor in the bin and my "green" colour. Load it and start singing.
I have a similar one set for my other interface input for my Acoustic guitar. its yellow
Then my Bass VST will load up with Dim Pro and my customized bass patch, Hi Pass fillter in the bin and the blank midi track will also load up. Bass is Blue.
I have one that loads my go to AD2 kit it's Red.
Anyhow I find it easier to make a new song using track templates than using full song templates.

#3 No , not sure why it doesn't do this in console view but so be it.   Console veiw follows Track view or as I call it the Main view. Most people work in track view 90% of the time so I guess it's not been an issue.

#4 Thats what I do too,

#5   same answer, Thats how I do it.  Of course there will be a better way so we'll see if someone answers. One things for sure, there are always more than one way to do the same thing in Sonar, and very few of us know them all !

Yes, ALT drag will allow you to move tracks around in the console view - the only bit of "learning" is getting used to where on the console strip to click but you should get it in a few tries

Whoo-hoo - Alt-click on the track in the Console window to drag - thank you!!!

(And thanks for all the responses).

What I mean about the History window - it seems that while the History Window is open - it gets the input focus - so I can't get back to the tracks or console view and continue working.  I'd like to have the History Window open all the time while I'm working in the track/console view (so I could see at a glance what the last change was in case I accidentally pressed the wrong key or key combo).

There is a feature request forum called the Bakery the link is in your CCC GUI.
You make a request and others vote. Cool system really.
Only down side is a lot of us never visit the backery so then we'll post here and sneek that link into our post asking people to go and vote,
