  • HELP!!! I have no SCROLL LOCK key!

To get the PRV screen to scroll after editing notes you're supposed to hit the Scroll Lock key. Only I don't have one.

It seems keyboards today feel it's unnessesary and have removed it.

Some say use the Windows virtual keyboard. This does not work either.

Since it seems most newer keyboards don't have this key, can we have the Scroll Lock functions in Sonar replaced with another key?

I really need a quick way to make the screen scroll again, and there appears to be no option in the Keyboard shortcuts menu.

Thanks,

Steve

I just bought a keyboard yesterday and it still has a scroll lock key - it's up by the print screen key on my keyboard.

That doesn't do a THING to help your situation, I just am not sure that I agreed with the 'most keyboards' statement as being entirely accurate.  Could be - just don't know.

Can't you go into the key bindings and change that key combo to something else?

I would think that would solve your dilemma.

Windows 7 has an on-screen keyboard utility that saves me when I'm on my laptop.

Well, I did say it seems most KBs don't have it anymore. At least none of my newer ones do.

I have an old PS2 KB with one but it seems silly to have to hook up a 2nd KB with a USB adapter just to release the PRV scroll function. I don't have room on my desk for 3 KBs.

I also mentioned that I can't find any reference to this function in the KB shortcuts menu.

Now I'm scouring the interenet for a KB remapping utility...

CRAZY!

Please see original post.

Also, I've come across dozens of work arounds on the net that don't work in my case.

I guess I'll have to buy another KB, but it neede to be lighted as well.

I wasn't chastising you or anything - I just hadn't seen a trend to the removal of that particular key.  Obviously SOMEBODY did it, or you'd have one.  Let's hope they aren't trendsetters.  :)

I also do not know if the key bindings have this in there to change - I will take a look and let you know if I find it there.

I got to tell you, I don't get it either.

I have never changed any of the key bindings, but it seems that if there is a key combination in there that does something, I ought to be able to see it in the list of existing bindings.

I will spend some more time looking at it - I certainly agree with you thus far - CRAZY!

Thanks Rob! No offence taken. I was just clarifying the statement. Actually it IS a growing trend at least for laptops, where I do most of my work nowadays. But even my Logitech desktop KB has none. I bought it for the lighted keys which help me more than having a scroll lock key.

I am perplexed that HP and others don't have a KB reassignment tool so one can utilize this function when needed.

My request would be for software makers to not assign it to any functions or at least make the function reassignable. There are other useable keys.

Currently the only way to make the PRV scroll again is to close and reopen the project.

Got you.  :)

I do not know if this applies - it is under Clips Pane.

When the Left Click Locks Scroll option is enabled (default behavior), the Clips pane will not scroll if you click any object in the Clips pane. When you are done with the edit and want the Clips pane to scroll again during playback, click in the background of the Clips pane to clear auto scroll lock.

Would clicking off somewhere in the background make it start scrolling?

A curious Bob

There was also this: "To Enable/Disable Auto Scroll Lock: Click the Track view Options menu, point to Click Behavior and choose Left Click Locks Scroll on the submenu"

Any help?
