WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO (trying to match the number of posts I had on this one)

I can't TELL you how happy I am at the moment.

I may just come over now for that cold beer.

OK - so maybe make a system restore point now.

That is GREAT news indeed!

1.  Now, check to make sure you have a reasonable sample rate in the interface before you get into Sonar

2.  Again PRIOR to Sonar, make sure the interface is now your DEFAULT audio device for your system

3.  One more, PRIOR to SONAR - make sure Windows Media Player sounds good when you play a song.

4.  OK - NOW get into Sonar do NOT get into a project yet

5.  Hit the letter P to get into preferences

6.  Go to Preferences>Audio>etc and make sure you have ASIO specified, and that your sample rate MATCHES your settings in the interface itself

7.  NOW go create a project and post back results on how it is all sounding

YAY!  Did you manage to follow ANY of the other steps?  Just wondering what you set the sample rates to,and if WMP sounded OK prior to you jumping into Sonar.

(I really can't blame you for skipping ahead)

UA-25 is the DEFAULT for recording and playback in Windows control panel. Windows Media Player works fine.

Now I go to X1 and hear nothing. The green volume bar is not flashing. Seems I do no know how to assign UA-25 to track input

Well, what are you trying to play?

How about you do this:

1.  Create a new project, using Normal template
2.  Insert an audio track
3.  Click on the track number to select the track
4.  Click File>Import>Audio and pick some MP3 or WMA file
5.  Hit play after it loads the tune and see what happens

I have bass guitar plugged into UA-25, and armed track makes no sound. I am also playing back the project that I was done yesterday, bass that I could not hear while playing but could hear once it was recorded. Now I do not hear. There is a gray horizontal bar on each channel strip just under letter IN/OUT. It is set to None and I cant change it

Can you go back to a simpler thing please?

I know you want to run to the end of it all, but so far being methodical is the ONLY reason we are even AT this point.

Please, let's check to see if just playing a simple MP3 tune imported into an audio track works.

THEN we will figure out what is interfering with your bass track.

OK?

Thank you,

This may be a silly question have you monitors plugged in to your UA25? If not you will hear nothing unless you use the headphone slot.
