Good morning sir, please review the last couple of posts - DO NOT start any of the steps I posted until we clear up the matter of what your driver modes is set to in Sonar.

What is your current driver mode set to in Sonar?

I have already did what you said.  I have launched "setup" of original Roland driver and and the installation green bar went up to c. 80% before it asked to plug in UA-25 USB cable. There was an attempt of automatic installation but it instantly failed "due to change of rules". However the "original driver" installation did not go any further. It stoped at the same point as always. My impression is that the "original driver" is NOT recognizing the device, the "NEXT" button remains grey after I plug edirol in.

Shall I undo "rules"

Please post back with the current setting of your driver mode in Sonar,

This was one of the first things he was told to check, and above he seems to say he has done that, although I am not sure of where the above was left.  Maybe he needed to APPLY the change to ASIO mode to then be able to see the it in the devices list?

Yes ASIO is still selected in "DRIVER MODE" <- "PLAYBACK AND RECORDING" <- "AUDIO" <-"PREFERENCES"

OK - and you do not see your device listed?

OK - yeah it's about 7:25 am here.  Been up since around 4.  I will take a nap again in about 30 minutes for about 2 more hours

OK I just wanted to check on where we stand.  The other poster was talking about just switching modes, and I did not thing that would work as we do not yet have the right drivers in, but since he used to have the same interface I had to check.

Look back at the recent post with a bunch of steps I gave you, for an alternative way to get Windows to stop hijacking the driver installation process.

Go ahead and run through those steps - read them first, and post any questions ahead of running the steps.

OK?  Go ahead - if no questions then go ahead and do the steps and in any case post back,

Bob

I have done it. Hijacking no longer occurs. The driver from Roland site does not recognize the device though.
