One more thing.

Just for grins, when you re-run the install, instead of just running it, rich-click on it and Run As Administrator.

Did that as well, same result  :-(  :-(  :-(

Does you user account have administrator privileges?

This is the only information in the installation driver documentation for trouble shooting:

Is the UA-25's ADVANCE switch set to the "ON" position?Set the UA-25's ADVANCE switch to the "ON" position. Are you logged onto Windows with the appropriate user rights? You must log on to Windows as a user whose Account Type is Administrator.
Go into Device Manager and tell me if there is a device appearing for it under Sound Video and Game controllers.

Yes, I have administrator rights. Now the device is not listed (eversince we changed "rules" to "prevent installation ...")

It is not listed because we uninstalled it intentionally.

Question - when the windows driver install thing was taking over, did it give you any chance to specify install location?  or did it just do the install without letting you do anything?

No, it was instant without asking me anything

Do you possible have another USB calbe to use to try this again?

Also, how many USB devices do you have plugged into your system?

Lastly, have you tried installation using a different USB port?

1  If you have another USB cable, try installing again (first unplug) and install using a different cable AND port.
2.  If you have any USB devices you can unplug first (except keyboard and mouse) please unplug them too before you re-install with the new cable and port.

After - please let me know if anything different.

OH, and if you have any other things plugged into the interface, PLEASE unplug them before installing drivers again,

I was wondering about the different USB port, because I would imagine the device needs a POWERED USB port.

Different ports can have different setups on computers.

So, hoping things work this time - will look for your post with results,

Bob

there's only mouse and keyboard. I have six USB at the back including two 3.0 and two at the front panel. Tried almost all of them. I'm off to try another cable
