Looks like it is just you and me. We are the only people in the entire world that can't get this to work so we are very lucky!
As far as I can tell the best that can be expected is that you start up X2, open a project, insert Sib 7 as a rewire and X2 creates the necessary tracks etc.
Sib does not open automatically - at least is doesn't for me. Is it supposed to?
So if you then open Sib you will probably get an audio error that tells you to go into audio devices in Sib and click on "clean up". So you do that and then you open a Sib project.
You rewind to the beginning of that score and you make sure that X2 is rewound to the beginning of its project and you should be able to start the rewired project in Sonar and Sib should start to play at the same time as X2.
That is where I get stumped. It doesn't work.
Now I have been able to get it to work but only
once. I uninstalled X2 - very quick but the reinstall that takes lots of time. Curiously (and this has happened each time I install X2 - yes I have done it a few times now - I get an error twice (the same error) during the install. The error says "Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable (x64) Error 1719 The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance."
If you click OK, there is a bit more installing but you very quickly get the same error again. Then click OK again and the install proceeds as if nothing untoward had happened.
I don't know if this has anything to do with the busted rewire situation. I tried to see if I could solve this runtime issue but I couldn't. If you try to install the latest version of runtime - 2010, my operating system tells me that there is already a more recent version on my computer. I try to uninstall that thinking that I could just install the new one in its place but it won't let me do that. I give up.
So back to the X2 install and this is where it gets interesting. Once for s&g's I decided to stop the install when it was ready to install Rapture (this is something I have never used - its a state that I would like to achieve but maybe another day). When I did that and proceeded to open X2 and a project and then rewire Sib and then open a score and then go through all the other stuff mentioned above up to the point where I press play in X2, it worked but only once. I have not been able to replicate this superhuman feat. Maybe I was hallucinating - but I don't think so.
I was so excited when this fixed it, delerious after hours and hours of staring at the friggin screen during installs, uninstalls and reinstalls, stupidly when I got to this point I uninstalled X2 for the umpteenth time and let the fresh install go through and install rapture. That stuffed it. It has never worked again. I have tried reinstalling and stopping at rapture but I cannot replicate the fix.
So like you, I am the lucky one who cannot get rewire to connect Sib 7 and X2 Producer.
Is there anyone out there who might be able to shed light on this? Or should I just go to tools - shudder? At least Sib and tools come from the same vendor (for the time being).
Seriously guys, what's a guy gotta do to make this work?
