Someone just sent me a file that all players (Windows media, Quick Time, and al) are playing, I need to import it into Sonat and it does not support that format ??

I use something called the YTD Video Downloader - free from
www.downloads.com.
It also downloads clips from YouTube and then allows you to convert to a bunch of different formats.
You can just select clips on your system and convert them too.

It's just audio, i assume those field recorders can just save video formats??

No - the YTD Video Downloader has a conversion function that happens independently of any downloading.
So, you can convert from WMA to MP3 directly, or to/from WAV, or whatever.
