Hi. I’m trying to install BFD ECO in Sonar 5 Producer (Version 5.0.1) with no luck. I've tried: 1. I created a directory called g:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins and copied BFD Eco.dll into it. 2. Tools>VST Configuration Wizard 3. I’ve added the path to where I installed BFD Eco.dll – g:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins and hit the Next button. 4. A window pops up telling me it is looking for VST files and it even has a display showing g:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\BFD Eco.dll, indicating to me that is sees the required file, but… 5. Another window pops up with BFD Eco listed and allowing me to change it’s properties, which also indicates to me that it sees the required file, but…when I hit the Next button I get an error statement: The Cakewalk VST Adapter could not find any VST plug-ins on your system. Please run the config utility again and make sure the search paths are correct. 6. I hit the OK button and get another message: Your VST plug-ins were configured successfully, and are now available to your applications. 7. When I try to insert BFD ECO using Insert>Soft Synths BFD Eco is no where to be found. Any suggestions?

you may need to check on the fxpansion website, but if i remember rightly, bfd eco requieres windows7. it does work on vista although some users have issues with asio drivers. I think it has been discussed before on thsi forum that it won't work on xp. again, just a vague memory of this issue being discussed. search the forum, you may find the answer.

Can you confirm if you can run BFD eco as a standalone program? does that work? on the Fxpansion website, they state that version 1.5 REQUIRES windows7, while version 1.1 will work with XP (service pack 3)

Thanks...and yeah, BFD Eco works fine in stand alone mode. Maybe I finally need to upgrade.

How do you mean "won't install in Sonar"? If both are running under XP on their own you should be able to get it to run as a Soft Synth in Sonar. I had a heck of a time getting Sonar to recognize it but took notes. If you give more details I will try to help. Cheers.

And Win 7 is cool. If your system can handle it and you can afford it you should do it. I was very hesitant to bail on XP because I loved it. Now I love 7... perhaps not as much as XP but XP no longer worked as well with all the new dealymagacks. No regrets.

The following link should go to page six of my ridiculous BFD Eco thread. If not go to page 6 and I describe the VST scanning craziness I had to do to get X2 to recognize BFD.

There is also a big post about inserting BFD to get it set up properly with all kitpieces on their own tracks.
