Thank you.
For much of my life, I was a 'taker'. Somewhere along the recent way, it has become important to me to be a 'giver'.
It is tremendously satisfying to see folks - particularly fellow musicians and such - get solutions to some really creativity-blocking problems.
I was wasting a bunch of time sitting around playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 , maybe 10 hours a day. I have decided to immerse myself into recording as much of my own music, and a bunch of progressive covers as midi projects, and working with folks in this forum is an extension of that immersion.
I'll work on my stuff for awhile, then when I get to a logical breathing spot, I'll pop into the forum and see what sorts of stuff there is that I can contribute to solving.
I am also disabled at the moment (well for the past 4 years, actually), with 9 herniated discs and two bad knees, from playing basketball in 15 countries and a couple of summers as a summer 'filler' player with the Chicago Bulls. All of that basketball took a toll on me. My real job was computer programming, for 38 years, and because of the pain and the medication, I haven't been able to work.
So, I have time available, and because I really am driven to give back, I enjoy being able to do something productive.
In addition, I respect the folks at Cakewalk - I have been using their software since the days of DOS, and they were and remain pioneers - extremely dedicated, and all of the users share a passion for music, so it is easy to WANT to spend the time helping where I can.
Maybe in this community I will run across some folks who share a dream of mine - to play out some of the kinds of progressive tunes that push me to the limits of my playing. I have been playing keyboards since I was 5, and I will be 52 in a couple of weeks. I would LOVE to show up at one of the prog/rock festivals and have a band together to play a setlist that included: UK, Genesis, Yes, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Gentle Giant, Jean Luc Ponty, and Bill Bruford. I KNOW these folks are out there, and if I can find them, maybe I can achieve that dream.
So, that's it in a nutshell,
Bob Bone
