I'm working my way through the X2 Explained videos.  I can't get it to work.  I've tried closing out the project, Sonar, and doing a full reboot.  Scratching my head.  I have it set up just like the Explained video and I'm getting nothing.  Searched the forum and found little.  Ideas?

Does it work at all direct via a controller?

It should just be a matter of turning it on, loading a pattern and either playing a midi clip back through it (by playing the project) or using a controller directly using that track.

Thx for the response, Karl.  (Your SWA video is next on the list to watch.)  I've been slow on the uptake with a young daughter and other "have to's".  Taking an X2 personal day.

I've tried it with my A-Pro controlling Dropzone and DimPro without results.  Tried loading a midi clip in a DimPro synth track and still no results.

That is strange but of course the arp effect will depend on the pattern you have loaded and also the settings, especially the mix setting.

Assuming you have a pattern loaded and it's turned on the first thing I'd check is the mix setting at the bottom of the arpeggiator. That should be at zero % for full effect.

Opened a new project as well and tried with the controller and midi pattern.  Went back to project I was working on too.

I played in the bass part and I have a synth part - both using the A-Pro.  I've turned arp on and off, and have mix at 0%.

Here's a pedestrian question for ya!  I've tried playing individual single notes, chords, patterns and I'm getting nothing.  Loaded numbers of presets to include shapes and tried the above.  No doubt its probably operator error, but can't figure it out even after two cups of coffee!

The A-300Pro is just a controller and doesn't produce any sounds on its own. So you need to insert a softsynth and set the track output to the softsynth.
Make sure you turn the Arpeggiator on (the button next to Latch).
Make sure you select a patch on the softsynth with a quick attack.
You should only have to press some keys on the keyboard and it should play.

The APro is controlling Dimension Pro.  Full Fingered 2 is the softsynth patch.
Arpeggiator is on.
I've toggled through a lot of presets to try, but right now RockBass03 is the chosen preset.  The APro is working with no problem controlling DimPro.  Just no arp.

Hi jmain,

I suspect this has to do with the Apro's channel assignment. This has happened to me with the Apro as well. I either set it to channel 16 or it defaults to that channel.

The strip Arpeggiator defaults to look for channel 1. Use the  Apro's channel assignment page to change to Channel 1 or switch the Arpeggiator's channel picker to the Apro's channel out assignment. The Apro's channel assignments are made using the PRM/Mute control below the display. Page over to the MIDI CH page. Use the value knob to change the assignment to 1 or use the data picker to change the channel on the Arpeggiator to the current channel assignment.

Hope this helps.

Bingo!!!  Thanks for the fix!  Works either way to match it.  I had tried changing the channel on the Arpeggiator, but not to match the controller.  Lots of things to learn.

Thx for chiming in as well, FBB and Dave.

I don't know then. I tried DimPro with the arpeggiator on my system and it works fine.

Are you using the Arpeggiator in the Inspector or did you load the Cakewalk Arpeggiator in the Fx Bin?
