For whatever the worth, a nice brand new 32" HDTV can be purchased for $199, with several brands to choose from.

I am aging rapidly, and sometimes my eyes hang lower than my ex-wife's eh external gear.  I find the larger screen size to be quite helpful.

I later ended up purchasing a gigantic 46" HDTV and now use both displays.

It's really about how good your eyes are, how much you have available to spend, and how much room you have for putting a display somewhere.

I WILL say that bang for the buck, you can get a much bigger HDTV for way less than an equivalent actual computer monitor.  I find them to be quite adequate for display quality when using Sonar.

I was just today contemplating turning the 46" display on its side, and changing the layout to portrait, to see more vertical display - more tracks vertically and all.  The 32" display is used for displaying mainly the console, and I can drag other things over there if needed.

Hope that helps you,

Make sure you get 1080p, not 720p if you get a 32-36" TV, the smaller models (used to) have that.

When we upgraded to a big screen last year, my wife got our first-gen 36" LED TV.
But it is 720p so we have to use a weird screen size - 1216x684 and while it is easy to read, a lot of web pages use the lines from 600-1020 and they require scrolling.

Maybe they are all 1080p now, I don't know.

Whoever said they didn't need bigger has some really good eyes.

I am 6'9" - used to play basketball, and these days it seems like I can't even see the floor.  I am 52 now, gonna tick one more up at the end of the month - it's AMAZING how bad my eyes are getting.

I think an optometrist told me once that our heads sort of flatten out a bit as we age.

CAN'T WAIT til I look like Stewie!

Samsung 24" monitors are relatively cheap these days, so I wouldn't go with anything smaller than that ... 1920x1080 seems to be a popular resolution.  Be sure whatever you get is nice and bright with good contrast ... I have seen Acer monitors that looked washed out next to a Samsung.

i've used two 19" widescreens side by side for years.  if anyone has upgraded to something better than this setup with one monitor, I'd like to know.

Well I'm 5' 3" and over 60 but I still can't see the floor.
I use a 23" monitor and I want a bigger one.

27" (1920 x 1080) is good for me, with some eye sight problem.

For me only, I would avoid 2560 x 1440 @27" since it would makes things smaller. That's why I got 2x 27" (1920 x 1080) (it's cheaper than a single 30" 2560 x 1440).

Well, my eyesight is already fuzzy, so I'd rather look at BIG fuzzy - hence my 46" HDTV.
