That's why I got 2x 27" (1920 x 1080)...

I've got 2x22" (1680 x 1050), which is good, but I would love to have 27s.  I recently asked CW what the size of the monitor was that they use in their tutorials; they said 27".  The screen real estate looks great in those videos; ever since then I've wanted 2x27s.  Consider me big time jealous...

Here is a good source for terminology, aspect ratios, etc.

.... Minimum size also depends on the distance you are from the screen. A small 7" full HD screen (1980) at 3" is the same as a 40" screen @ 24" away. The sun is like a trillion inches wide but I wouldn't be able to read the screen if Sonar was painted on it. Sorry not trying to be sarcastic. Just making a point. My first point. I know I always wanted X1 to be much smaller in all it's graphic elements. My eyes are good.

if your building a new daw for x2,why would you only go one monitor?
im sorry but thats a little strange, almost 70% of x1-x2 users have dual monitor set ups.
if your building a new daw the cost of a video card that has dual monitor capability vs a non dual monitor capability..there the same price unless your going into high end V-cards.
i know because i just built this one 3 months ago and the single and dual were the same price for a ATI radion 3000(thats low end but gets the job done fine.

only reason you are not 100% correct is that imo you should really install an ati display card that supports Eyefinity, then you can have 3 displays.. :)

its something none of the nvidia cards supports currently (as i discovered to my chagrin)... and this isnt high end either... <$150

and to anyone suggesting 1050 0r 1080 display height.. that really is only a constrained budget option.. 1200 vertical height is a huge difference in viewable area, and a quality display is a must.. long hours in front of poor screens doesnt do you any good.

I'm replacing my 1080 with a 1200 as soon as money allows! Widescreen is good for playing games and watching movies, but stupid for working!

For a single monitor setup, I wouldn't go less than a 24" unit.
Any of the Samsung units would be fine.

I'm currently using a 27" Samsung...
It fits perfectly between my near-field monitor speakers.

I agree.  Widescreen is better for viewing but not good for long sessions of fine detailed editing with a mouse.  I used a 24" 1920x1280 for a couple of years and I found it a tiring for midi editing and eventually reverted back to using a 19"  1280x1024 5:4 ratio screen.  This may seem retro, but they are still commonly used in offices.  And rightly so.  I've got a 4-screen setup consisting of these now.

I use two Samsung 24" flat panel excellent!
If your building a new comp, set it up for 2 monitors, once you start using two you will never go back to one
