 Hi all,

I'm back.... recovering from surgery and it's been a long while since I fired up my SONAR 8.3 Producer.

I thought I'd get back into the swing of things by uploading a .wav  drum track file so that i could start jamming.

Well.... it wasn't so easy.

When I import the file into a NEW Project the file does not show standard audio "wave" patterns in the TRACK view...It just shows a series of DOTS...like periods spread out widely. It does not play a sound.

So, I took the same file and dragged it into iTunes and it PLAYS JUST FINE.

What is going on here?

I'm stumped. ANyone have any ideas?

thanks,
bob

It is probably a broadcast wav file. Make sure to uncheck the "Always Import Broadcast Waves At Their Timestamp" in Edit > Preferences > File - Audio Data

What you've imported would seem to be a MIDI file rather than an audio file.

Load Session Drummer and route that track to it, and see if that doesn't give you some drums.

  An old and well-known bug.
Right click the wave in Sonar and edit the clip properties.
Make it a one shot(non-looping) wave and check the bpm it reports. If it reports a huge number, you will have to edit out any tag info with your favorite audio editor.

Don't those dots tell you there is data further on down the line?? At least for MIDI I see that, but might be those broadcast wave files are usually at fault and the audio is just way down the line out of sight.

+1 ^
"Series of dots / periods"....I read it the BWAV clip is further down the line, nothing more complicated.

If you hit Ctrl + End on your keyboard, you'll go to the end of the project where, hopefully, you;ll see the imported clip
