  • SOLVED: Displaying waveforms in X3

I use Sonar X3 mainly for MIDI, so I only just realized that audio tracks are supposed to display waveforms. Mine never have; they show the preview during recording, but as soon as recording stops, the clip just displays as a solid swath. Any idea how to make it show waveforms? I've tried recomputing pictures; it didn't help.

The audio tracks play back fine, so I know the data is there.

Have you updted to X3e? There were bugs in X3 but the e update fixed most.

What do you see if you zoom in or make the track hieght taller?

Great suggestion; thanks! I'll update to X3e and see if that works. When I zoom in or embiggen the track, it stays a solid color.

Well, that didn't fix it, but I'm glad I applied the patch, in any case!

another fix is you delete the Picture Cache

Another good suggestion, but no dice. While I was at it I checked the maximum picture cache size, and it was 500MB, which seems more than adequate. Mysterious.

OK, you read this, just gropping at straws here.. I know it's for synth tracks but I currious what will happen , do these also show as a solid block?

That works fine; it draws very nice waveforms for synth tracks when I enable it.

Very odd. To bad you can't post a picture until you get around 25 posts.

So e mail me a screen shot and I'll look at it and post it for you
