I've got Midi transpose allocated to Alt + t

Select your notes, hit Alt + t, enter the number of semitones you want to shift, click Ok. Done

So it appears that what you're saying was removed in X1 didn't even exist in 8.5.3.  Am I missing something?

It was available in 8.5.

In X1 they removed the ability to quick-group Key +/- making it a nightmare to try different keys for a singer.  So now in X2 they remove the ability to click and enter a number with your keypad.  Oh, but they didn't stop there.  Now it's a slider that goes to + or - 127 semitones!   (that's really usable)   How could it be worse you ask?  They also changed the brackets ([]) function to go in increments 8 semitones instead of an octave!

I suppose it makes sense in a way.  They don't believe anyone needs notation so who needs silly things like octaves and key changes.  Just grab a different loop.

Why not use process-->transpose? Wouldn't that be the easiest way anyway? Even in 8.5 an earlier it was a menu command not a quick group.

That is destructive and after a few changes (or even 1) you have no idea what transposition you started in.  That is not a usable workaround for auditioning different keys.

...

Interesting.  So why can't you double click to enter?
I think this was already mentioned but Double-Clicking returns the value to "0" so it wouldn't work to reimpliment it.

f2 is a hassle on laptops since I have to hold the function key while hitting it.

Despite the bantering, I'm actually learning something here...

Similar issue:

In 8.5 I could start transport and then open a midi track's properties and change the key value on the fly.

Can't figger how to do this now. Has not worked for me using the event ribbon lump.

And:

This is supposed to be a user forum. But users have NO control of any of it.

The index is not updated regularly.

The forum top page has an announcements section that has not been updated for a year.

Are we not mostly adults around here? My teenage granddaughters use words I am likely to not use.

But the F word is appropriate here.  X2 has some great stuff. But and more stuff seemingly arbitrarily removed, and::::

 And more menus (take lanes).

Stuff that should have presets (screen sets, meter changes) do not.

And auto save-as is still not "auto."

And more vertical screen space has been confiscated (take lanes).

No doubt SX2-d will finally fix some stuff. And then we will get another upgrade with a bunch of,............

Well, don't get me started.

Of all the things in this world that are actually offensive the "F word" is not even on the list.  I can't account for other people's priorities.

I don;t like this change, and have already posted about it myself. But the tone of this thread is really just appalling. VV: grow up and make your complaints and opinions known like an adult would, if you want anyone to listen to them.

Come on this is easily worked around.

Transpose your material.

Don't like it? didn't it work?

Hit Ctrl + z and try a different transposition

It only becomes destructive once you've saved & exited the project, otherwise ctrl + z is always there to undo changes.

Hmmm...  Would the Transpose MIDI plugin work for this?
