I see that there is a Rapture 1.2.2 patch. It implies that it is the full program (if you have an earlier version).
I want to upgrade to X2 and then install the Rapture.

I am using an old Rapture that I bought when it was first offered. And, I noticed that the waveforms are on my C: drive.
I am thinking they should go on my F: drive? Right?

Should I just uninstall the old Rapture and delete all it's folders and then do the 1.2.2 patch and then X2. Or, vice a versa?
Or ??

Actually, I don't know what to do. It's all pretty confusing:)

Thanks if you can help me.

If you are installing X2 then it will install the FULL version of Rapture 1.22

I would, personally, if I don't have any settings that I need to save...
uninstall the "old" Rapture and install X2.

The "Patch" isn't full...it is a FIX....

Do not feel bad because I've been wondering the very same thing for the last couple of days. This is exactly what is holding me up from installling X2 on my system......

Now I've read the  documentation page several times and here is my take on it because Clarry although I agree with you that yes it is a fix because of the installation issues however I must disagree with the assumption that this is "only" a fix......I think that it is a full featured version. Look at the size of this patch... it is almost 26 mb large.....I think if was a patch it would be a lot smaller in size plus  the very first statment on the document states

"A new stand-alone installer is available for the full version of Rapture 1.2.2. The installer resolves the following customer reported issues:"

I mean even then first few words are "a new stand - alone installer for the full version of Rapture 1.2.2".......

Now mind you the Rapture update of 1.2.1 was a full version installer as well.....(64 bit installer but a full one) that is how I ended up installing the version I have now........

This all leads me to believe it is the full version of Rapture......
So what I think I am going to do is to uninstall my current full version of Rapture and all hints of it and then install X2 (I also have the full version of DimnPro and will leave it alone) and ask X2 to by pass on the Rapture installation.....

Then I will install this new updated stand alone version. I think this will work out....

However, I have been wrong before..........and I could be all wet here.....but this is just my two cents....

The person who could answer this is Ryan M from cake but his Rapture update will not allow you to post in that sticky other wise I would have asked this very same quesiton there! It would be nice if he would be able to answer us here....

again............just my two cents

I think the patch is a fix for the existing customers who installed Rapture along with X2 as part of that installation. It addressed several issues relating to the installation and qualifying of Rapture.

I would uninstall the old rapture just to be safe, although I think it defers to C drive and you may need to redirect it to your files if you want to save them.

The 1.2.2 patch is not a full version. The 1.1 installer is 22MB. The 1.2.2 patch is 11MB. I did the patch well before X2, it was no big deal. If you do patch, skip the X2 Rapture install, it is the same version of Rapture. FYI, unlike DimPro no Expansion Packs are installed with X2 Rapture.

If you decide to install the Rapture with X2 and you have any custom programs or multisamples, you might want to save your current config and copy it over the new Rapture install. The parts you would save off are the "c:\programdata\cakewalk\rapture" (this is a hidden directory) and "c:\program files\cakewalk\rapture\multisamples" (default location, save your actual multisample directory).

If you decide to install Rapture with X2, perform a custom X2 install, skip installing Rapture and perform the standalone Rapture install http://www.cakewalk.com/S...reader.aspx/2007013294 It would appear there is no need to remove any existing version of Rapture, the installer performs that task first but is couldn't hurt.

Then, to add to the confusion, there are actually 2 separate 1.2.2 patches

the first one: (dated 7/13/2010)
http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/kb/reader.aspx/2007013167

and the new one, dated recently.
http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/kb/reader.aspx/2007013294

Which doesn't even show up in the knowledge base.

The one dtd 7/13/2010 is the patch you would appliy if you owned Rapture prior to X2. If you want to keep your current version of Rapture and skip installing Rapture with X2, this is the one you want. You might find this easier if you have already installed the Expansion Packs, custom libraries or made any programs or samples yourself.

The "new" one addresses problems encountered when people tried to install Rapture with X2. It is in the X2 support area and is referenced in a sticky thread above. If you want to install Rapute wiith X2, perform a custom install skipping Rapture then run this installer. This is a full version of Rapture 1.2.2.

Your a bit confusing here.....your first sentence of your first post says that this is not a full version of Rapture but in your last sentence of your second post you say that this "IS" a full version of Rapture?

I would think that this would be confusing to some......Which is  it. A full version or not?............not that this makes a real difference to me because I believe that it is.....I just hope you can see how this can be confusing someone....that's all I am saying....

Cake put out the 1.2.1 update which was the full version. I know cause I used it as a stand alone installer to upgrade to my present version of Rapture. So I am thinking that this just may be the same thing....they just fixed the coding a bit and hooked it up to the installer to go as it should of been in the first place of the X2 installation.

I think that I will do a custome install and just not install Rapture from X2 and then once X2 is installed and Registered I will install this new Rapture Version...

That is correct.

There was a patch to Rapture prior to X2 that brought it to v1.2.2. That patch is the one dtd 7/13/2010 http://www.cakewalk.com/S...reader.aspx/2007013167 . That is NOT a complete version of Rapture and the installation guide makes that clear.

There is a "patch" to X2 that is a full Rapture 1.2.2 installer. That is the one referenced in http://www.cakewalk.com/S...reader.aspx/2007013294

The former is a patch to Rapture, the later is a patch to X2 that happens to be a full Rapture 1.2.2 installer.

If you owned Rapture prior to X2 and failed to keep it current, you have to decide for yourself if it is worth patching the old version to 1.2.2 or have that version deleted should you install the version included with X2.
