hi Folks,

I'm doing some hobby home recording on an older Pentium-4 computer
3.2 GHz / 2 gig ram.  Was wondering if SONAR's X1 LE would work
on this type of machine?

their system requirements seem to indicate a dual core processor,
which I don't have.

My recording requirements are not intensive, perhaps max of 6 audio and 4 MIDI at once.

All my audio in's and out's are handled thru 2 Pulsar audio cards, which is not CPU dependant.

thanks for any input!!

Welcome to the forum.
Depending on the operating system, my guess would be it will probably work, just not as well as it would on a newer computer.
Why X1 LE? Did you buy (or are you considering buying) some hardware that includes SX1 LE? Consider Cakewalk's Music Creator 6. It's based on X1 but is less expensive. A good starter DAW.

thanks for the input.

I'm working on the older PC, because to upgrade both hardware & software to run on 64bit, dual core, etc would be expensive at this point.  Plus, for all my needs an older XP system fits my hardware & drivers perfectly.

Music Creator 6 - if it's recent - likely calls for dual core or 64 bit systems.   I don't need any music hardware, the Creamware (now Sonic Core) Pulsar I & II cards I have have a huge amount of built in mixing, FX, synths & sampling capability - way more than I'll ever use.  Just that, until I have a thousand bucks or so to upgrade both drivers and hardware, an old XP box does the trick.

Gary, if you are looking at purchasing a program, I would suggest X1 Essential, or MC6 as Greg mentioned.
Both are 32 bit programs.  X1LE is a stripped version of Essential, and I would have a hard time justifying buying it.
I am running X1 Essential on an XP P4 system w/1 Gb RAM, and it does fine.
