I can't find the option to turn on 'ask' pop-up dialog box to open for special options (events, tempos, markers delete hole, etc..) when using ctrl+x / c / v
I see the drag / drop option in 'Prefs' but not this.

Someone clue me in please.
Thanks

Also I see that lock positioned tracks can no longer be cut unless you unlock them as in previous versions, correct?

Copy Special and Paste Special - Advanced

Yeah, these are their own options with a key modifier now. I preferred the old way, myself, as I *always* want the dialog box. I've mapped them onto my control surface for this reason.

You will only get the "other" options if the data selected contains data of that type.

In other words, if you select a range of data without any e.g. tempo changes, the ability to copy (& paste) tempi will be greyed out

This has been a feature since at least X1 - maybe even 8.5

Right, how do I get that advanced feature/ pop-up dialog select box when using ctrl+c/v/x as in previous versions?

I was always able to cut envelopes without any audio on the track. The dialog box appeared & I'd select.
In X2 when I use ctrl+x it cuts everything w/o any selection box.

Plus now there's this unnecessary & irritating step of having to also unlock positions first before cutting.  Previous versions selecting 'Data' locked everything & prevented deletion/ cuts, much more sensible imo.

OK, I'll play.

'Right'.

If you were to right-click on a selected measure, you would see under Edit, that a copy is done as ctrl+alt+'C'.  This DOES in fact open the little dialog box where you can pick different kinds of events to copy.

When pasting, if you were to right click at the target paste location, you would find, under Edit - 'Paste Special', which if selected would give you some additional paste options.

Hope this is what you were looking for,

Hi Bob,
Thanks, but no.

I'm trying to have the dialog box pop-up when using Crtl+X instead of adding the extra rt+click mouse step on a measure or going to the edit menus.

Was this taken or left out of X2 / maybe I'm missing pref selection somewhere?

Yeah, I know that . What I was saying is that if your selection DOESN'T contain the type of information you want to work with, you won't SEE it as an option to copy/paste.

Why not use the automation lanes feature?

I see, they changed it to Ctrl+ALT+X to get the dialog box..
Lanes are problematic, I actually prefer using layers.
