I apologize for the confusion.  "Midi from Audio" term was something I picked up from the youtube video.  Trying to duplicate what I was watching in the videos simply wasn't happening in X1.  Mystic you hit the nail on the head with bouncing to clips.  I thought that bounce to clips would turn it into an audio track.   I did exactly and you said and it worked perfectly.
