  • Anyone having trouble with R-Mix?

I tried to use R-Mix for the first time today and noticed that I had trouble defining the Frame.  I could change the size vertically with no problem, but horizontally the grab points are not actually on the Frame itself, but a bit outside, to the left and right respectively.  And the corner grab points don't seem to exist at all.

In the R-Mix manual, it says that double-clicking on any slider or knob returns it to its default state (like most other things in Sonar), but that didn't work at all, either.

Also, on some tracks I tried, all the "energy" shown was on the far left of the screen, completely up against the left border of the R-Mix window itself.  The pan knob was centered, and the sound was centered, so the display didn't make any sense.

These things make it very hard to operate R-Mix usefully.  Anyone else experience this or have any ideas?

No one's having these issues or no one's using R-Mix Sonar?  It looked like a potentially good way to deal with a particularly nasty noise problem I have on a track, but the experience was disappointing.  Also, I'm not sure about the quality of post R-Mix sound, though I'm sure it isn't supposed to be suspect.  Anyone?

Im Using R-Mix for Hiss Noise Removal and it is doing a great job,  i do not know if there is another tool in sonar that removes the Hiss from tracks.

But im also having problems with it. When i load R-mix to a track it works fine,  however the "energy" is also showing on the left of the screen. when i close the project and re-open it im having a white screen in the area that displays the "energy" and nothing else.

Yeah, having issues sometimes. Like the "energy" display will stop updating. The usual reason for the display crammed to the left is a mono track. But I got it once for a stereo (master) bus.

I have had that issue in one project. The Frame was stuck to the extreme left of the plane. I tried it other times, in other projects, though with no issues.

I just tried putting R-Mix on a track. After one beat, it killed all of the sound on all of the tracks except one (not the one with R-Mix on it). To be exact, I put R-Mix on the bass track, and it muted everything except a MIDI drum track. And on that drum track, the bass drum is now playing at about 25% of the normal volume.

Thus ends my experience with R-Mix, until they fix it. I had tried it previously on a project with a single track and it worked great. But this sucks.

I started another thread about how well R-Mix worked for me... really sorry you're having problems, but it seems that they have something to do with routing... not R-Mix. R-Mix is an FX and should only affect the track it's placed on. In  your case, R-Mix is affecting the entire mix. It would be the equivalent of adding a reverb to one track and having the reverb applied to the entire mix. Does this happen with you? Where are you inserting R-Mix? The fact that you tried R-Mix on a single track and it worked great shows that R-Mix is not broken, it's just a matter of figuring out your routing.

Best of luck,
Rob

I put in in the FX bin, and also in an FX chain in the Pro Channel. Same result each time. There is no reason why R-Mix should affect any other track, as you say. If I try another effect in the track, it affects only that track, as expected. This is a problem peculiar to R-Mix, as far as this project is concerned anyway.  It's also interesting that it's not cutting the sound out straight away - the first beat sounds, and then everything cuts out.

I just tried it in another project, inserting it in a synth bass track. This time, it doesn't affect other tracks, but one beat out of every bar cuts out, no matter how I set the window or the levels up. The "energy" display just turns off and the sound goes off.

For whatever reason it's affecting some people negatively and not others, it's undoubtedly a very buggy plugin and I'm going to leave it alone until such time as Cakewalk provide an update. It's a shame because it has a lot of potential.

Since R-mix introduces latency, it apparently stresses the midi prepare buffer. The recommended setting is 500 ms (or up?).

How dare you fully solve my problem and restore my faith in R-Mix! Of all the......
