How do you insert and manipulate a clip gain envelope without using the smart tool box?

Sorry, I searched the help and got nada...

I see that it can be done as there is something going on with cntl/click but I couldn't get a grip on what was going on. I mean, I would hold cntl and click and sometimes an envelope appeared, sometimes not.

Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean, but I accessed it as I did in X1 by dbl-clicking to open the smart tool, then using the edit filter to select clip pan or clip gain...

Without the smart tool action you couldsimply select clip gain from the edit filter on the related track...

Keni. If you hold cntrl and click around on a clip a bunch of times, a clip envelope appears. But, it's not controllable or repeatable or consistent.

I don't recall seeing this advertised, but I've seen this too.   I think it's a matter of dragging across the clip while holding the Ctrl key.

Interesting...

the closest I know of is to dbl-click on the clip and the smart tool pops up where you can select clip gain and it appears...

On the track itself (instead of lanes) it will display the envelope(s) and allow access for editing as in X1 with a shift-click on the envelope you wish to edit...

Is that what you're referring to?

Ctrl click and drag in a clip will insert a clip gain envelope. Switching the edit filter quickly can be achieved by either shift clicking on the element you want active, clip or envelope for example.

Shift + right click will switch between the last two selected edit filter selections.

Ahh...  so that is intentional...

I thought this is what I was seeing but didn't recall it being advertised.

Another "not often advertised feature" is pressing the = key inserts a volume envelope on a track, it's actually a shortcut to the volume envelope.

It's amazing what you find while scripting tuition videos.
