I,m nearly 50 c**p with computors/web browsing. Be gentle please. I want to upgrade/x grade to either X1 essentials or X2. Im buggered if I can find a comprehensive list of specifications to either. I mean the sort of thing in my MC3 manuel.

I,m very wary of downloading "manuels" as some are used to download toolbars or other c**p onto my PC. which I then have to spend hours to delete,or run CCleaner.

Any help/advice much appreciated,Andy.

Hopefully this will help X2 versions.

Hi,

X2 is an easier product to use than X1 and so it would not make sense to purchase X1 at this point as a new user..

If your system specifications are correct in your signature the note that both X1 and X2 require a higher performing system as a minimum and that X2 does not support windows XP. I would note that you will likely have issues running pretty much any current software of any complexity unless you upgrade to a newer system..

Andy, if your sig specs are current you are very under-powered for sonar - consider upgrading your hardware, or maybe instead get a low-requirement sequencer app (get a copy of Computer Musoc mag from the local newsagent) ... hth

If I buy X1/X2 and just use it as one would say a open reel deck, and didnt run all the add ons/programs such as midi/drum loops/guitar samples/DAW based FX suite etc,do you think my PC would cope.

I,m really in the dark here. I,ve finally got the cash together to buy an AI and DAW. But I,m bewildered by all the different options. Most of the whistles and bells I dont need, prefering to record live through a mixer with Rack FX etc. sorry,I,m a real dinasaur,Andy.

i'd recommend trying out some demo versions... it's difficult to say, i mean if you just want to record the stereo out from your mixer, then you could get away with a free audio editor like wavosaur or audacity... and then, what is it about mc3 that doesn't do what you need?

Scratch wha ti said about concurring with getting the demo. Ii am quite sured there is no way your current system runs X2.  Even essentials requires at least 2 gig of ram. You will simply download a huge program that is not supported on your OS or hardware and have to uninstall, leaving a bunch of registry crap to sort through.  If you are just using it for basic recording, the programs he reccomnended would be a much more practical choice or get your hands on some legacy software.

Thanks,I,ll check out your recommendations.  MC3 doesnt have enough ins/outs. I cant listen to a prerecorded bass and drums say on cans, and play at the same time. Io need at least 4 similtanious I/O's.

It seems the more I/O's a DAW has,it then comes with the need for a more powerfull PC.Andy.

Andy, you really REALLY need to buy a new PC.

You can get some PC's quite cheap now that are a million miles better than the one you are currently using. Just check out some of the deals on Ebuyer :)

Best of luck!
