Hello, I am in the process of putting together a new PC for use with Sonar. I currently run an AMD quadcore, 32bit Windows 7 pc with Sonar 8.5.3 and X1d installed. I have a ton of projects saved that I have worked on over the past two years. I am thinking of building my new PC based around a Windows 7 64bit os. I have a few concerns.... Will I be able to open older projects that were recorded in 32 bit and edit them? And how complicated is it to get 32 bit vst plugs to run in a 64 bit host? If it's too much of a hassle, I'll probably just stick to a 32 bit os, on a more powerful machine. Thanks in advance.

Someone else can answer about the old project import, which I assume works pretty well. As for the OS, by all means go 64-bit and get a lot of memory. I have not had any trouble running 32-bit VSTs, even some rather old ones like NI Pro-53.

The built-in bit bridge (teleport server) works very well as far as I can tell.

I run a mixture of 32 bit and 64 bit synths in X2 all the time, and I do not have any trouble.

Moving to a 64-bit OS would really open up a lot more memory addressibility for you, which would definitely benefit you, not to mention getting to run 64-bit synths and all.  Well worth it.

I don't recall having trouble opening any of my 32-bit monstrosities (projects) in 64-bit Sonar - perhaps others could chime in better on that.
