  • Is anyone else experiencing odd (infuriating) selection behavior in the take lanes in X2?

When I try to select specific clips in the take lanes it randomly selects other clips and there doesn't seem to be anything I can do to stop it. I didn't link these clips (as far as I know). I've checked everywhere I can think of to make sure I don't have those other clips selected in the various ways one would select tracks/clips. It just refuses to allow me select what I want. It is very frustrating and I'm have to slip edit things to nothing instead of cutting or muting. Bug? Cheers.

I don't know if this is related but I just edit clips in one lane. If I have to record a portion of a part over, I take out what I messed up on and just blend in what I play again.

So, I have two seperated clips that I want. I have to go back to a point before those two clips and re-record what I messed up. What should happen is I select the clips I recorded and put the now time where I want and split the clips (I record two tracks. One effected, one dry) and you would think I could just delete the previous unneeded intro. For some reason, the two clips before somehow combined with the re-recorded clips. Even wierder still, sometimes I can crop the clip and everthing will be fine and sometimes the previous clips will crop away with the re-recorded clips. It's all very strange. If it happens again, I'll try and remember to do a screen capture.

Yes, annoying!

@guitarpima... I kind of let things get a little messy when I'm in the tracking "zone" because I'm just trying to get the takes down. I ctrl z any real garbage but if there is something that is close I'll let it live for further inspection. My current issue is with my BFD track so it's all MIDI. I've got old takes I want yank out to clean it all up a bit and (if I can figure out how to) turn all the sections into one long clip. I think maybe what I'm going to have to do is create some empty lanes, take the clips I want and move them into the empty lanes then delete the lanes with the leftover garbage. I shouldn't have to do that though.

Here's a little more detail. I can select the clip I want and it'll be the only thing selected but when I right click is when it selects other crap. I just tried selecting the clip and hitting the delete key and that did indeed delete the clip I wanted without effecting anything else (as far as I can tell) but I don't think that was working last night. It also means I can't mute specific clips... unless there is a keyboard shortcut for clip mute... which I'm sure there is but still... it shouldn't be doing this. Oh well. At least I've got a workaround now.

Hi Beepster...

I guess you could select the clips you want and execute a bounce to clips or bounce to track...?

I haven't gotten this far with X2 yet...

Yeah... this doesn't sound good... I'll try to check it out here but I'll have to create sone test recordings to have the situation....

BTW... the "K" key will toggle mute for selected clip(s)...

Cool. Thanks, Keni. I still have to learn about all this bouncing mayhem but I'm not quite there yet with this project. At some point I'll have to do some PRV tweaking on the drums and I'd like to have it all in one long section. Maybe it does that automatically. Just trying to redo my guitars now. Cheers.
