PC is to me a console emulation. The components are modeled after their console equivalents for the most part not all but some. 

Let me be the first to say it. X2 is what X1 should have been in the first place.

I am not knocking X1 just that many of the "new" enhancements should have been there from the start.  I think there would have been far less angst. 

None the less its good to see this evolution.  

I see what your're saying but I that's not console emulation really, sonically speaking. The emu should be comprehensive as far as the components interactions, not just strung together but as a living entity.

That is way the console in question works. These components are physically plugged in to the console in slots. 


CW touted the PC as an emulation as well of console components.   

Just to be clear. I think we are all going to like this new version.

Based on the video it looks like the console is SSL, Neve and API style emulations.

Thanks for this.  Yeah, now I see that picture of the S, N, A type; at first, it went by so quickly that I could not tell.  Hope they are decent.  I already own VCC, and Waves (SSL and Neve), and UAD2 (SSL & Neve).  Been wanting to get NLS for its Hedges EMI console.  Be interested in how SonarX2 emulations will stack up against these now seemingly industry standard console emulators.

Hi,about upgrades and prices,well as a total newb @47,I bought Studio[boxed] for $199 from Gigasonic[+$70 shipping],as no one had it in Australia,even in May 2011,then I realised I wanted Producer,and bought another boxed version for $300[+$30]and of course all the Expanded/Pro Channel modules,last September/October.

Quite frankly,compared to my old days of the occaisional[very] mega dollar studios[paid for by the record company luckily],and learning of early Pro Tools for $20,000,having this stuff,even after,buying X1 twice,I still think its amazing value.

I could easily do without X2,as I'm only really coming to grips with X1D,but if it's a $99 upgrade in December,I think that might be pretty cool,although I did like having the security of having the box/discs,and not having them for a whole NEW platform could be a little disconcerting.

I wonder if X2 will be like the release of X1 for VS 700 users where it was like "oh yeah we'll get to you guys in the next update, x1a, x1b, x1c, x1d" Hopefully this time VS users aren't an after thought and things work like they used to in 8.5

Upgrade to X2 like all the rest of us. To me that notice is a way for CW to get rid of unsold merchandise.
