insane especially since the items were not removed just move to a better place. How idiotic.

No they were not moved to a better place.  Before this change you didn't even need the inspector, saving lots of valuable screen real estate.  So now my I key is wore out turning the inspector on and off.  :)

Really? You use the phase and stereo buttons that often?
+1

If you need to use those buttons that often then you've got something wrong with your mixing vision as you clearly can't make up your mind what you want to do. It should be a quick set it and leave it.

To be fair, you might be doing mono check on the master bus, but still, shouldn't need to that often. It's pretty easy to pop the inspector up quickly. A workaround would be to just put Channel Tools on the Master, set it to mono, and simply turn it on and off when you wish to check mono compatibility. Gives you additional options too, such as adjusting the output to -3dB (or whatever is appropriate for the mix - it will vary) so when you sum to mono, it doesn't get louder. Stereo interleave won't give you that.

If it make you feel better I got GR5 for $79 last month. I just bought Kontakt 5 for $59. LOL I would have paid more for Kontakt.

where did you find Kontakt for $59!!! I need that in my life I was ready to pay $140 for a crossgrade only to have my car go down and me have to use that money to replace my starter

+1....Ditto that...I'd of turned a backflip to get it for $59....I was REALLY tempted to pay the $140 and then the $199 for Komplete...but didn't..and NOW I'm happy I didn't....I got a whole lot more usefulness for a whole lot less thanx to the Waves Voucher program...

If you guys want to get these deals just sign up for Native Instruments e-mail notices. Yeah it can be a pain deleting from time to time but I got Guitar Rig 5 Pro upgrade from 4 Pro  for $39.00 and they offer other good deals like the one John speaks of too..

I do I am just not eligable for what he had. You have to own a full version of Kontakt to get that deal and I only use the player and its libraries. I only really want Kontakt so I can convert some of my old ensoniq floppies anyway so I can use them in Kontakt rather than buying another EPS other than that I can keep buying libraries that use the free player

As for your soundcard..  I'm having a few audio troubles too.  a lot of my troubles went away with proper system tweaks.. You are using windows 7 home premium?

Even with system tweaks, I am getting the occasional dropout, but nothing like it was before..  plus, I think Cakewalk knows it, and they have probably done some tweaking for X2...  I'm not worried though about the whole, "paid update/upgrade." thing..  I know some guys have complaints..  but you know..  when you want to the next model car, or the next model tv, or the next model software...

:-)

cheers
Are you using Balance as well? I am on Windows 7 home premium yes. When I called support on this issue the first time they had no idea what Balance was or Propellerhead for that matter. It was very disencouraging to say the least but I called last week spoke with a guy named Dan who had been helping me via e-mail support (though sometimes waiting over a month to email me back) and apparently this issue will not be fixed in x1. I am definately demoing X2 first but if these issues are not fixed I am highly considering going Studio One 2 Professional with a crossgrade rather than Sonar X2 Producer Expanded which is where I will likely go if I upgrade with Cakewalk. I love the Cakewalk plug ins and have not had a single issue with those in any environment I have tried them in.

SORRY FOR THE OFF TOPIC TO ALL OTHERS...I COULD NOT HELP MYSELF

Hi xabiton
Are you saying that Cakewalk rep Dan is acknowledging there is an issue with Sonar and your BSOD’s. The reason I ask is that this makes no sense. I may be reading it wrong.

I agree with some of what LP is saying...usually a BSOD with the cache manager error message is one of a few things...you point out one of them there are others... failing RAM and/or hard drive, not enough memory (RAM) on the machine, miss-matched RAM, bad device drivers or something starting up in Windows.

My gut is that this has nothing to do with Sonar needs a patch but its more something with the PC. The thing is what if you go and buy another DAW and have the same issues? Try the demo 1st.

Every 3-5 years I have to re-install Windows so I keep an extra hard disk drive around to install to and run a dual boot. I can then copy what I need from on drive to the other. Jut a thought on what LP said about re-installing windows. Or go buy some matched RAM from the store test it and bring it back if it still crashes.
Hate to see someone not being able to use a DAW like X1.

Good luck brother.

He said Sonar does not do that and said it could be a variety of things and said its more than likely my anti virus but i caught him at the end of the day only to find out that it was not the problem at all. I also own Reason and Live too and these problems do not happen. I am not one to complain to complain but all of my issues that I have with DAWs generally only happen with Sonar. Live likes to crash a lot out of no where sure but hey it recovers my last session so we are still good as opposed to when Sonar used to crash (not nearly as much as it did when I was on Home studio 7) I was just screwed and usually ended up with a corrupted session too. But since updating this cache deal from samsung's website things seem to be smooth sailing for now outside of the pops and actual bugs like rewire not working right. The BSOD I am sure is not a Sonar issue itself and I am sure was something with a driver I was not trying to say Sonar caused BSODs that would be absurd! No pro audio company could live like that. I am saying the other bugs that are there should be fixed is all. I think if we got an X1e X1 could be the best DAW out there and fight with Reason for title of most stable daw in the world.

I reckon the update from X1 Producer Expanded to X2 Producer will be maybe back to $179.

Once SONAR 8 to 8.5 to X1 happened we got $99 upgrades.
I reckon those days are gone.

Previous to SONAR 8, updates were annual and $179 from Producer to Producer. Remember there will have been a 2 year cycle from X1 to X2. There was also a 15 month cycle from SONAR 8.5 to X1.

If you adopt early you get caught in the "Beta" phase of ironing out the early bugs that got through testing. If you buy late you feel cheated because a new version comes out the minute you unpack yours and feel it's somehow devalued what ylou have.
The realities are:
- you always have the software you bought.
- the later in the cycle that you buy the more stable the version you'll have
- If you pick an upgrade cycle for yourself and stick to it all things will even out in the end.

damn at that price point sounds like the expanded producer guys are taking it with no vasaline its almost as bad as paying to be a beta tester hell I still feel like a beta tester 2 years later at times

mudgel, I just posted this on the X2 list thread... "My guess is that it will cost $99 for the Producer upgrade since it has more features than Expanded which cost $49. I don't see it being worth $179 but then again, they threw in Rmix to perhaps justify a price increase. My suggestion to them is to keep it at $99 and run a $49 promotion for the first 10 days."

Yes! It's often like this to get the best deal!

Buy it right away when SONAR X2 hit the market. Update now for 49 €

OR

Buy it next year summer 2013 when SONAR X3 going to be released.

The choice is yours, I will go for when SONAR  hit the market.

...Again you get punished for buying sooner rather than later. Shouldn't it be free for all users prior to a certain date not after? More money for something that the PC gives for free. X1 users are still at a disadvantage for expanding the company.

Why not make it free for everyone up until the point when Cakewalk run out of cash and go out of business?

How can we understand the on-line store offering?

The SONAR X1  familiy shows up with an "upgrade now, download X1 now and receive X2 when released" for "SONAR X1 Producer" customers. Price is 80€.

Is this the opportunity to purchase the upgrade from X1 to X2 via this offer?
