You know the more I look at it the more I like the looks of it. I could get use to the dark on dark of the TV.

Nuts I am getting excited about it.

Oh well.

The dark on dark is not unpleasing at least to me.

...Again you get punished for buying sooner rather than later. Shouldn't it be free for all users prior to a certain date not after? More money for something that the PC gives for free. X1 users are still at a disadvantage for expanding the company.

Why not make it free for everyone up until the point when Cakewalk run out of cash and go out of business?
Giving him ideas are we?

I really do not get the constant whining about the thing. Buy it when it is convenient to you. Me? I'll buy the thing when it comes out...

insane especially since the items were not removed just move to a better place. How idiotic.

No they were not moved to a better place.  Before this change you didn't even need the inspector, saving lots of valuable screen real estate.  So now my I key is wore out turning the inspector on and off.  :)

Really? You use the phase and stereo buttons that often? I think I have used the stereo one once. I have had no reason to use the phase button at all.

Once a project is going no, but when I set up a new drum kit, flipping and checking the polarity is needed quite a bit.  Plus it's nice to be able to glance at the screen and feel warm and fuzzy that it is set as you believe it is.

The stereo not so much, I do have one vst that for some reason X1 likes to flip to mono at random, it's always nice to see that as well.

I reckon the update from X1 Producer Expanded to X2 Producer will be maybe back to $179.

Once SONAR 8 to 8.5 to X1 happened we got $99 upgrades.
I reckon those days are gone.

Previous to SONAR 8, updates were annual and $179 from Producer to Producer. Remember there will have been a 2 year cycle from X1 to X2. There was also a 15 month cycle from SONAR 8.5 to X1.

If you adopt early you get caught in the "Beta" phase of ironing out the early bugs that got through testing. If you buy late you feel cheated because a new version comes out the minute you unpack yours and feel it's somehow devalued what ylou have.
The realities are:
- you always have the software you bought.
- the later in the cycle that you buy the more stable the version you'll have
- If you pick an upgrade cycle for yourself and stick to it all things will even out in the end.

Exactly.

I've never had a problem with Cakewalk's pricing structure with regard to upgrades.  It's not hard to follow and is good value especially when you work it out as an annual 'cost of ownership' figure.  If I decide to spring for this particular upgrade now coming from 8.5 it will have worked out at £30 p.a., which for maintenence of a major piece of productivity software is peanuts whatever way you frame it.

I just hope this time round there is something in there that warrants me upgrading as that more than the pricing structure will have the biggest bearing on whether I open my wallet.

It seems to me that a lot of the new features are things already in expanded.

In 2011 I traded in my Harley Davidson Fatboy for a Street Glide and paid extra money for the 103 cubic inch engine, in 2012....the 103 was standard equipment.  I'm glad they got the extra money.

I will be really tempted to upgrade to X2 as soon as it comes out, and hopefully, any current issues I am having (such as my Rapture problem discussed elsewhere) will be fixed in X2.

I might, however, wait until Windows 8 is properly released. X2 is compatible with W8, and I think it would be better to upgrade both at the same time, therefore not having to re-install X2 when the new OS comes out...

I like the colours in the ProChan eq, but sad to see they didn't add an output volume :( damn screwing with my gain staging! They could totally fit a slider in the middle of that thing where the stripe is...

We've supposedly got a new record option in there... Something looks different up in there. Also the snap settings are all new and fancy (auto snap thing I suppose).

I do really like the dark too. Looks very sexy.
