That is my laptop 8 gigs of ram stock never needed to upgrade. bought it in February I have reinstalled windows and the problems never really changed I did since that post do a cache update that Samsung released recently and now Sonar at least opens and runs ok but the vst scanner crashes everytime I try to use it. No other dongles I try to keep my setup dongle free but I love Reason and its my favorite music making program (sorry Cakewalk) so the ignition key was worth dealing with for me. No other copy protection other than the software e licenser on my system for a few arturia synths I am demoing. Balance works with Asio4all but its own drivers are much better. I did a system back up and restore about a month ago maybe 2 months. That avast was a headache to get rid of though had to contact their support to do a clean uninstall Cakewalk tech support said that any anti virus will screw up Sonar. I couldn't install it completely at one point but since doing that update i was able to at least get a successful install of X1a and I am currently downloading B C and D so I can be on the latest update and maybe even ditch my issues with the vst scanner which is a new issue that usually does not happen in Sonar. But since updating my Cache deal from Samsung I have had no problems with Sonar besides the vst scanner *knock on wood* if I can get Sonar working as advertised 85-95% of the time (i am a 10 year reason owner I am spoiled by stability) I will preorder X2 Producer just to show I have no ill feelings towards Cakewalk though I know release updates are buggier than an ant farm
That does sound rough.  hmmm..  The problems you are having, sound beyond my ability to help you solve.  I hope things get better for you

Cheers

I will be really tempted to upgrade to X2 as soon as it comes out, and hopefully, any current issues I am having (such as my Rapture problem discussed elsewhere) will be fixed in X2.

I might, however, wait until Windows 8 is properly released. X2 is compatible with W8, and I think it would be better to upgrade both at the same time, therefore not having to re-install X2 when the new OS comes out...

Looking at the screen capture it's very kewl that the Console
emulation is a Pro Channel Module...

http://www.cakewalk.com/SONAR-X2/ There will be more product information on SONAR X2 at the end of August. We will post pricing information closer to the shipping date of SONAR X2 which is NOT in August. For now, we do have some preliminary information up on the page listed above.
From the video teasers, it looks like X2 doesn't have any Staff/Notation updates!

What I like about X2 is that it's very similar to X1 so there won't be much of a learning curve. I'll be able to jump on it and start working with it right away.

Auto zoom also has my interest.

I'm hoping all my current Pro Channel Modules will be compatible with it.

Looking forward to getting it.

I'd say you have nothing to worry about on that score.

If they weren't, then many thousands of users would be furious and not even bother to upgrade.

I don't think Cake have the financial cojones to pull that sort of stunt.

Also the snap settings are all new and fancy (auto snap thing I suppose).

Aside from the darker TV color scheme that's one of the first things I noticed.   It's difficult (if not impossible) to make out what those icons actually are, but it's obvious that there are some changes in that CB module!

There is a snap button, a switch(for something), and a button with what appears to be mountains with a flag on it? Maybe marker, or matrix?  Looks good to me!

Looks really interesting, but I'm actually already running X1 on a machine with specs below the minimum (without performance issues) so I'm not sure my aging DAW is going to handle it.

Did the video mention any minimum specs for x2?

The track that is selected may be the auto zoom

The dark on dark is not unpleasing at least to me.

Thanks for posting that John...

I couldn't see it well in the video and haven't had the chance to try freeze framing...

For me that looks great! I might not even need any mods this time! ;-)

SonarPlus? That remains to be seen... I know there will be no new version of that, but here's hoping I won't need it?
