What's the difference b/w a take lane and a layer? Anyone know?

I think they are one and the same and the poster simply used jargon from another product.

"Take Lanes" is a new X2 term...

Reposting this here: Hmm... looks interesting however I have a few concerns which I'm hoping aren't going to be a problem for me. And this isn't necessarily meant to be griping but I see this being something that will irk me quite a bit.

So I bought the Production Suite at the start of May. I paid full price for it. Shortly after that (like the next month) all the crazy deals came out. Okay, fine. Just my stupid luck I guess. Now there is going to be a full PAID upgrade. Well I've already blown my budget for DAW stuff. It's gone. No more money except for a few necessities that were on my original shopping list.

My concern is... what's gonna happen to a customer like me? Is X1 going to continue to be supported? If so that's fine. The second issue is if I had known there was going to be a whole new version coming out I probably would have waited. I've essentially paid full price for something that will be outdated after only a few months. Is this going to be considered when X2 comes out? I will be very very disappointed if I get shafted here. It'd be different if I happened to get on board with those deals or had any inkling that X1 was at the end of it's life cycle but I based my purchase on the info available at the time.

Again, not trying to gripe here but it would nice to know what, if anything, can be done for someone in my situation.

I saw someone up thread mention that if they JUST purchased X1 the upgrade will be free. Is that factual? By me buying it in May at full price would I be included in this? I have barely started using the software due to the massive learning curve and hardware conflicts that had not been documented. I understand this is how things work out sometimes but it seems I have basically made my purchase at the absolute worst possible time.

Anyway... I hope everyone is having a good day. Cheers.

"You never know, Maybe they will do something cool like Propellerhead did and let you name your own price. That was a big success for them. ;)" That is a different scenario. They were giving Reason/Record users the shaft on the upgrade. It would have been a big failure if they didn't come out with that for Reason/Record users. This was when Studio One was the new DAW on the market.

Just suck it up and belly up to the bar, be happy there's an upgrade version to upgrade to....Compare to Opcode Studio Vision...there's no upgrade available to that !!

An upgrade price from Producer or the Production Suite shouldn't be that much anyhow.

Not all of us are rabid fanbois like you, Wayne. I just bought the thing for full price. I have every right to be concerned about this and like I said I am completely tapped out. You can't get blood from a stone.

I have a feeling X2 will be out for awhile, so maybe in a year or so you'll change your mind.

In the meantime don't call me a rabid fan bois. You're just annoying me with your name calling.

@wayne... You are one of the most abusive people on this forum. I'm surprised you are even allowed to still post the way you speak to people here. Then if someone says anything you don't like you act like you are being attacked. Do not reply to my comments anymore.

No problem, and don't you reply to mine as you have been very annoying the last couple of months. Good Riddance !!

It seems CW always has a new release every Sept. So I guess after X2 you wait for the next Sept. It's not like X1 is no longer useless.

Whole new version coming out after two years, who could´ve thought of that! (not to mention the release cycle used to be one year).

Sorry about this but wasn´t it very obvious.
