Herb,

I like it.    Your guitar fills are really nice as is the backing track as a whole.   I would like to hear the bass a bit more but otherwise no crits.   You could add some more harmonies on the chorus, maybe?   Well done.

Nice country song ! You did great on the performance and mixing as well as the recording, all sounds great to me.
The only comments I would make is there is a little bit too much reverb on the vocal for today's standards  IMHO! However back in the 80's they were going crazy with the reverb so if you were trying to make it sound traditional you did that. It doesn't sound bad to me ,I like it, just they aren't doing it so much like that today.
At The end during the break or pause and everything dies in volume if you could let the steel die naturally it would sound better to me. Again just my opinion. I like the song though and the vocal is nice too!

Wow, you really stepped out of your comfort zone on this one Herb.

Sounded good. I hope you were rocking a look like this?

In honor of the creative risks taken here, I think I'll do a soft/pop rock cover from the 60s/70s (range!) Just pulling your leg Herb? I hope you know that. I was practicing my bass this evening and this was a nice break from it.

Great song, Herb! The song has a Willie Nelson vibe to it.
The mix sounds perfect to me. The drums sound wonderfully crisp and clear. Nice heart-felt guitar work.

Far be it for me to critique any of your songs Guitarhacker but I feel you could have a slightly longer intro into the song. It just seemed to hit hard at the start. Maybe slide a  a little of that sweet steel in there first too. Great song, and very nicely played. Loved it. ☺

Hi Herb,
your song sounds very professional in all the areas that count the most
Vox, guitar tones , mix , playing , song structure …all good ...
I enjoyed listening very much
I think the simplest thing you can do to improve your song would be to add a little more silence before the song starts
it jumps in at less than a second after hitting play

The clean lead guitar work sounds really good Herb, is that the Mesa or the Pod?  Pure Country!

OK... let me see if I can respond to all these comments

Markno999: bass, what are you listening on since I have plenty of bass not only in the studio but on the mp3 player as well.

teego: thanks.... as far as todays standards.... this song isn't even in the running. It's not contemporary sounding enough. Unless it was co-written with a N-town star, and it wasn't, it will never make it past the guardians of the gates.

Robby: yeah I just need to break out of the box every so often..... all that hip-hop and rap stuff I write .... I need a break with some country every now and then.   ;-) thanks for the listen... you know you loved it. BTW, I don't have sufficient hair for that pompadour look thing.....

Mike: glad you enjoyed it

Scotty: yeah, that Willie thing, I really am not trying to do that....clear and crisp is what I am trying to achieve. Thanks

Schafe:  On intros..... I try to shoot for a short intro. Not to exceed 13 seconds max where possible. Some I do ease in with the music and others...this one, .......1,2,3,4 lets go...!!  Thanks

Kenny: I do the same thing with every song.... I trim the count in off, after the last drumstick tick..... then I add 500 milliseconds (1/2 a second) of silence at the start. So you are correct when you said it starts in less than a second after hitting play. All my tunes follow this rule. On a CD, if I burned CD's, there is 2 seconds between tracks so I want the tune to start as relatively immediately as possible after the beginning of the wave. I send tunes to libraries for TV and film and they want the song to start quickly.  I'm glad you enjoyed the tune in spite of the quick startup.

Mike: It's the tele on the POD with a black panel fender dialed up. Also my Taylor acoustic is in the mix.

Thanks to all for listening and commenting.
