Very nice production enjoyed the whole thing nicely played, captured and presented.

I do agree that by modern standards there is to much reverb on the vox but do I care, no.

Thanks for sharing Herb

Herb,

Listening on my Altec Computer Speakers (have a subwoofer)  also listened at home...  The bass is OK, however, when I think of traditional country I generally think of a very low, solid bass throughout.   It does that for the most part but in certain spots it seems to pull back.   Like at :34 when you say "put my finger on it" the bass seems to fall away for a bit until about :44.   There is nothing wrong with it as is,  just a preference...

Regards

Herb, I like the way this is mixed and arranged.  Your voice sounds like gold, and the guitars are so very tasty.  Lately, I've become a fan of reverb again after some years, and that may be because reverbs are getting better all the time.  I like your use of one on this production, as it gives depth to the sound stage (which is becoming something of a lost art these days).  Congratulations on a job well done.

Kenny: I like the way this one starts. Some I ease into, but this one told me to do it another way.....waa laa!

Wookie: I'm trying my best to convert you to country music..... glad you like it, reverb and all.

Mark: I'll listen to that part you mentioned next time I listen.

Lynn:  Thanks.... there's really not that much reverb on this.....really. Vocally: The tracks are dry, there's a studioverb2 dark plate at around 15% in the vox buss and there may be a studioverb2 plate in the master buss set at 10% or there abouts..... that has never been a combo to add huge reverb to the mix... just enough to smooth the rough edges.

A very nice song Herb. I'm just a sucker for that feel. Who cares if it sounds "dated", it's about the emotion it creates. Loved it.

Wow, nice song and great arrangement - sounds just right for the style.   And +1 to the vocal and guitar comments.  Good stuff.   Is that a "real" pedal steel?

Oh... and +1 to the Willy vibe - not so much in production values but the performance.

Yeah, I don't hear any great big reverb wash or anything. It's not subtle, but it sure isn't overdone. Great guitars and vocals, as usual Herb. Really like the delicate guitar sound you captured in this one. Overall, well done mix.

Dan

Vocal sounds too far out in front. Sounds like Willie Nelson's cousin though so...
