What is causing the little blue circle around the mouse to come on all the time? I have Cortana turned off, but it's still a running process. Is that causing it? Plenty of annoying little things in Win 10, but at the end of the day, if the performance is better...then it's better. Maybe the 5th time will be the charm.

I had no luck getting my 44VSL to run under Win10. Are you getting the 'busy' blue circle right after install, or after you installed some other apps. If so, which one(s)?

It just comes on every once in awhile...like something is working in the background. My audio and performance seems fine.

Last time with the suggestion from Cakewalk support, I deleted and re-installed every Microsoft redistributable c+++.
That fixed Sonar with Win 10 for me. I'm also using the previous Presonus driver. Not the latest one. The latest driver only gave support for USB3 and made the latency worse.

Cortana isn't easy to get rid of completely.

Here's a PC World article on how to disable it, but it doesn't tell the whole story. As you've discovered, the background process keeps running even after you've disabled Cortana. Furthermore, Windows will not let you uninstall Cortana, as it's considered an integral part of Windows. What people have been doing is renaming the Cortana folder (\windows\systemapps\microsoft.windows.cortana...) to prevent it from starting.

Well...this morning Sonarplt.exe has failed again. No errors or crash, it just says sonarplt.exe has quit working.

While I doubt it will make a difference, did you try the latest Presonus driver after moving to Win10?

No. I will next time. There will be a 6th attempt at some point.
I'm really not sure what to do. Everything works fine in Win 7. Everything but Sonar works in Win 10.
Last time deleting all Microsoft redistributable c+++ and re-downloading seemed to help, but I don't want to have to go through that process every week.
Somethings missing somewhere. Appdata or registry I guess.

I've decided to give this a try. I've installed the latest driver (which does increase latency from 7.3 to 9.3 roundtrip) and I'm now installing Windows 10 for the 6th time.
I think it's strange that it will work fine all day after installing,  then after shut down and re-boot it will cause the 'sonarplat.exe' has stopped working problem.
I wonder if installing 10 is actually changing a setting somewhere and telling my PC to not start something during startup?
Maybe if that is the case I could identify the program or process and go into device settings and turn it back on.
Why is this only happening to me?
I can narrow down the differences in my system to two things...
I'm trying to use the Presonus driver or ADK has turned something off for Windows 7 that needs to be on for Windows 10.
I'll reply after this latest futile attempt has ran it's course.

I have not updated an OS since DOS days preferring to replace both hardware and OS at the same time. I did go through Win10 and turn off quite a few "features" when I got my new machine. I would not be surprised if the upgrade enables background processes that mess with SONAR.
